Some time in December, right Denom? Missing the dates now.
Core ... wanna come along? Lodging on me, IF I am able to make it.

@ Tubes need 20-30 minutes of warmup to sound good.

@ The AP preamp has amazing holographic imaging.
@ The APs need to be partnered with suitable speakers and need the right environment to sound good.

[rohit] - True.

[rohit] - It is really a pitty this could not be demoed well :| This make a world of difference.

Suitable speakers: Very true. This is a known precondition for the setup. Who knows a different set of speakers having good synergy would have had different listening impressions. Please read as "opportunity cost" :)

Room size: Yes, this is proven by fact that we needed to clock up the volume quite high. Uptill now I have never turned volume above 11 O' Clock position! So, room size definitely matters as expected!

It may very well be possible the configuration/setup could be root cause. This may be worth verifying before forming a general consensus and opinion about the amps in discussion.

Just jotting down points for FYI if they may be helpful.

Cheers! :)

Hi Spirovious

Pass B1 is not an Indian product. Its a buffer preamp DIY design by Nelson Pass. You can also buy one assembled from First Watt. It costs $995.

Yes, That's Nelson Pass's intellectual property. We are just provided other features like Low Noise PS, source selector, phono stage and LDR based volume control to it. You can say all of the PCB's were made in India except source selector.

Some pics from my side

Sorry they can't match the quality of SLRs.

Agreed, but same applies to all other setups too.We got the results in untreated room(like home)which most of FM have.Synergy is another one. Same were my observations about Focals(didnt like) when connected to different setup other than B1 + Norge.

This meet rocked and I mean rocked.

A big thanks to Viki + Family for opening their house to us FMs for the meet. I havent met a larger hearted guy than Viki.

Thanks also to Denom and Sonos who ensured that the meet started on time and the show just went on till 2 am.

Santy, ruenigma and the other support team you guys rocked and ensured that things ran smoothly.

Also a big applause the all the FMs for this huge turnout of people and equipment.

For me, the highlights of the meet were with reference to the equipment / setup were two:

Firstly, the CA S30 and Panasonic BS41 LR. As the As the adage goes Good things come in small packages. They didnt disappoint and were what I would call an actual bang for the buck speakers. Though I did demo the BS41 at another FMs house some time back and was impressed this meet took them to a different level altogether. The S30 sounded well with the CA Amp.

Of course the star of the meet and highlight of the session was the Pass B1. Paired with the norge 1000 and Focals. This was one hell of a setup - it kicked butt. Period !! All other combos post that left me wanting for something more. Hats off to omishra fot the wonderful DIY. You're the Man. A lot of envy (joking) for sann I'm sure for having this setup to come home to each day.

Even the Electrocompaniet rocked the house and it was the first time I got an opportunity to listen to this great amp. I would have loved to hear the ProAc 100 with the Pass B1 but unfortunately the Pass B1 had left by then ?.

Last but not the least thanks to all the Mumbai FMs who gave me company in the car and made the journey enjoyable. Santy hope you're feeling better by now.

Hey Bro !! Special thanks to you. Your selfless and helpful approach has impressed me again and again.....

Picked up and dropped down all of us along with our gears, drove to and fro for 7 hrs in a span of 27 hrs with hardly 3 hrs sleep. :clapping::clapping:

Dont forget to thank our Chief Guest for some lovely Beers !!! :p :ohyeah::lol:

And the Viki's Almighty 15" Velodyne Sub. Could easliy take his house down if not his building. :ohyeah:

Good to see everyone enjoyed the meet. In appreciations to all who made this possible ..

Wow ! lots of gear.. Fewer equipments based on some theme and good amount of listening would be a little more comprehensive. May be the next meet. All the best in life you people. Keep up the good work.

I see you people gave some solace to Mr. Vijay Mallya too.

Best regards

I'm not saying that AP is super refined amp and thus would sound ordinary under sub optimal listening conditions but it sure would be more sensitive to the environment than the likes of Norge, if that is what it is pitted up against. I've heard Norge and am fairly well aware on where it stands. I agree on the synergy part though. :)

BTW, it is not clear on what the APs were paired with. It would help understand better on what could've caused the anomaly.
