Will be buying a home theater this weekend for around 35k. Have been reading suggestions and have found that the following models get suggested a lot here:

Denon 1312XP
Onkyo 3400/3500
Yamaha YHT 296/298
Onkyo 4505 (34k from Modern World, Bangalore)

Which among these would you guys suggest would be the best for the following usage:

50% music + 50% gaming and movies.

I know most of you would suggest going the AR way but i definitely don't have the budget for that and nor am i an audiophile. All i want is some good thump and clarity of sound when i listen to it.

My room is also quite big in size as well. It measures around 25x20.

Help!!!!

Denon would satisfy your preference,so wats your budget for speakers? As you have mass room, might have to invest more than normal stuff

For the budget of 35K, getting an AV receiver and speaker separately is the best choice...

Out from your listings, Yamaha 296 and 298 are almost same ( but not sure why the prices are different). Denon 1312 would be best.

I feel It is not much preferable spending 35 K in HTiB. Even u can get Yamaha 296 for around 25K.

Was told to have a look at the following Pioneer models...

Are they any good?

Pioneer RS32 and Pioneer RS42. Also, what's the difference between the 2 models. I checked the site and there isn't a compare button. It also isn't listed on their US site.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Also, where should i go audition these models? I will be buying them by tomorrow evening.

I would go with denon 1312XP............but since you have a 35k budget, why not an entry level AVR + 2 BS speakers.

Chaos,

As you prefer 50% music, HTIB would not be a good choice.Better plan for Stereo amp+BS speakers and upgrade later.

Else AVR and BS on first short later add center, rear and Sub for complete setup

If you have a 35K budget, then you can always go for the separates.

You can get a very good receiver in Yamaha 371 (or) 373 and get the Jamo S426 HCS3 speaker package. The Jamo has 2 Floor standing speakers, 1 center, 2 surround speakers. You don't even need a separate sub woofer for this setup. The floor standing speakers have enough bass to rattle. Its the real value for money and will serve well for movies & music.

Yamaha 371 - Rs. 18,000/-
Jamo S426 HCS3 - Rs. 20,000/- (If you bargain can get at Rs. 18,000/-)

You can get the both at Reliance Digital and also a lot of showrooms have in Bangalore itself. Believe me they will give you very good HT experience.

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
