How good are aiwa speakers?

My uncle has aiwa bookshelves. The sound is okay, not great and I'd pass buying these If not given away for free.

Take into account the room size you'd be playing these in. Better sounding in small rectangular rooms, placed length wise.

RS 5000? Take off one more Zero, that is a more realistic price for this pair.

That is simply too much for a pair of Japanese Aiwa speakers. You would have got a working deck with everything on it for that price.

Not trying to disappoint you or something, you have been mislead.

Gotcha!

Got the speakers. Sound is good enough. Certainty hifi.not mid-fi IMO.

And its from Japan. Confirmed.he purchased from a person from Dubai.

As I mentioned there is no CO (country of Origin) on the rating label of the speaker Aiwa Co., Ltd Toyo, Japan is not origin but simply makers name & HQ location.
Many of the Aiwa products marketed in the middle-east refrain from using Made in China on its product because of lower acceptance in the market. If the seller has told you that it is made in Japan than it is half true. It is the main unit MIJ not the speakers. While Aiwa products sold in other continents has origin mentioned on the rating label of the main unit and speaker as well.

I have attached the picture showing the rating label of the same model as yours with Aiwa Co., Ltd Tokyo, Japan and the origin Made in China

But if you like them than have fun with them thats the important thing. :yahoo: In my experience I prefer the sound of Hi-end speaker and same goes with inexpensive speakers!

if you look in OLX & Qikr..you will get much better systems at half the prize...even spending 500 is enough for them....frankly speaking...these speakers are only meant for mini stereo system and these are not full range speakers with artificial chambers inside...they are not worth it...from my experience,...any indian speaker brand ..like Norge or Thakral is better than that...(Thakral from chandni chowk new delhi)

Happened to notice, the other day, that a pair of my Castle Speakers, MRP 600, about 13 years back, could be had now, used, for as little as 100. My speakers, now, for 8,000 - 10,000 Rs? I'd jump at that!

Sorry for bumping into an old thread. I have same set of speakers and i agree with the OP. The speakers are really capable of producing good detail music. When i bought norge 2060, i thought of upgrading the speakers as well, but i didnt find much improvement over the sound from the speakers I auditioned. The mini hifi component that came with this speakers went kaput after years of abuse, but the speakers are serving me really well.

O Dear Dear ! I too have a pair bought nearly 15 years back. 3-way speaker in a 3CD changer 2x35w, double deck et al. The sound is still good enough although not using much. Bit AIWA was a good pick that time.
