How good is Norge?

Take 2060.
Believe me the higher power amp sound better and more "articulate" compared to smaller power amp - at least at decently loud listening levels (~85 dB)

I have Norge 1000 and Norge 2030, and for some months both amps were in the same room. The way Norge 1000 handles bass and lower mids is more authoritative compared to Norge 2030.
Hi Alpha,

Do you still have the Norge 1000 with you? Could you tell how is the stereo seperation on the Norge 1000?

I still have the Norge and it functions wonderful.
I remember comparing it with Denon Integrated amp (I don't remember the model number but it was 12-13 years back around 64 W) - stereo separation was comparable: I never felt that Norge was inferior to Denon in all terms (including stereo separation).

I have used Norge amps ,tape deck amd speakers (pre 2000 era) and knew an old employee of Norge and also met their transformer supplier/manufacturer too . The only thing I found objectionable was lack of speaker protection circuit, other things being use of transformers of lower VA ratings and use of lower gauged internal wirings. I hope the newer models have addressed these issues.

Norge makes budget friendly amplifier. I have personally used their vintage amplifiers and speakers, they can easily beat some foreign company amplifiers and speaker. Also I have a norge bookshelf speakers in my personal collection still sounding great from 1987.

Purchased Norge 2060, received today. Very good musical amp for my liking. I like mid and vocals. This amp delivers it perfectly. I am happy with it.

Thanks much to all who posted in this thread for the valuable inputs.

I'll experiment few more days with different speakers and try to post my findings.
Congratulations on your purchase ! I have been using Norge 2060 for quite some time . Paired with Wharfedale 220. That makes a decent setup. I am sure your setup will be sounding great. Just a little tip- I am using a Bluetooth Music Receiver from TP link (1.5k on Amazon) to make it able to play from my mobile/laptop and it works nice .

I've been thinking of buying a Norge 2060 to power my old Def Tech floor standers. Would it be good enough for a 20' x 10' room?

I have now bought it and am happy to report it sounds very good. Probably better than I had expected.

An interesting story - while I was at their showroom/factory to pick it up, a gentleman turned up with an old Norge amp for repairs which he said had a loose connection. When i asked how old it was, he said it dated back to 1978 and apart from the loose connection had been absolutely trouble-free for the last 40+ years!
