How often do you find Norge 1000s on sale, compared to other expensive amps

Just to clarify: Read between the lines I have come to know thousands of music lovers who own Norge 1000, it doesnt say a monthly sales figure of 1000 amps.

Mothly thousand ----are you in dream world..

I assume that their yearly Total sales of amp not crossing thousand, i will not be surprised if it is less than 500.

Still 500 per year is impressive as they are hand built and yearly 500 means almost 2 amps a day ,which is good.

This is nothing against quality or sound , but when one went overboard , the brand suffers.

Personally I am not much impressed by Norge - I felt PULZ power amp - 60 W RMS PC , DUAL MONO was miles ahead and that 60 watter can easly give 100 W norge run for it's money..

Over last 4-6 months I have come to know thousands of music lovers who own Norge 1000 or their other line of amps. But how often have you come across a person, who is willing to part away with it. Search internet for sale of Norge 1000 or may be 2060 and see how many you find.

Comparatively, how many Nads, Marantz, Denons exchange hands? ;)

I guess these amps have been there for over a decade now, but not even 100 sellers over internet. Strange but true

Or how many forum members are willing to part away with it for a decent deal?

I own a Norge 1000 for the past 6 months and it is going to stay with me in the near future. And yes i am a KEEPER.:)

Excellent VFM product to say the least and can compete with amps two times its price hand down. The bass is a little less but mids & highs are very well resolved.

The fact and rather unfortunately in India "foreign" products have always deserved special respect & people are willing to pay much more for them be it new or even seconds. Admitted there are no high end Indian amplifers readily available but still what Norge 1000 achieves at INR 10K deserves a lot of respect atleast from me.

I believe since Norge is a desi brand the seconds sale price are very less compared with foreign brands coupled with the fact that they have no dedicated service centres throughout India.

In the last six months I have seen only one Norge 1000 & Norge 2060 avilable in the Kolkata Clasfields website though there where several NAD, Marantz, Yamaha, Denon etc.

Norge also have very low recognition among masses.

1) Thousands ---- wow - exactly how many? In how many years? Do you have Norge's monthly sales? Wow you must be having good grip over numbers??
Point is you are ove exaggerating.
2) For how long you are observing the ads? i mean for sale by owner , and other portals? BTW Norge appeared time and again, and least couple of times was available for longer time ( 2-3 months) so not lapped ASAP as you thought.
3) Being in used market I can say that there is far bigger demand for vintage japanese amps than norge or any indian one. And Indian stuff loses it's value fast.

From your questions I can sense, you have assumed too many things about me, my views and my perception. Cant help buddy.

One interesting point of view is there is a member who owns it just because its an Indian brand.

Just to clarify: Read between the lines I have come to know thousands of music lovers who own Norge 1000, it doesnt say a monthly sales figure of 1000 amps.

I have received such heated accusations from this very person. I have been previously accused to be a Yamaha dealer promoting their products. Just makes me laugh so loud.:lol::lol:

So  my friend for facing the same situation. Just don't get :annoyed:.

Personally I have taken a very effective measure by stop reading his posts.:indifferent14:

Buddy in real world you are Ripped over numbers - and you cannot face real market with your imagination - so I had a habit of checking santity of all claims

and seprate BS from reality..:ohyeah::ohyeah:

BTW my other claim - anyone having PULZ power amp here so that we can do a shootout!!

never thought of selling my pulz amp... matter of fact, no matter how much i want to spend money and buy some flashy amp costing a lakh...i always in the end get attracted to Indian Brand.. for me it's more of pride. i love the look on my freinds face when i tell them my system is 100% Indian Make..

Buddy, I am fan of Sonodyne ... for their international quality and very Indian pricing.

Good to see so many opinions......I am enjoying 'em......all I know is you don't sell something you dearly love......some people look for features and some performance......I like bare bone separates........3 analog inputs,Headphone, speaker terminal, superb stereo clarity,10.5K - don't understand why I would ever sell it is not too old to be in place

BTW I have a Norge 1000 running WHF 10.2 and soon will hook a SUB (obviously much to the dislike of my better half), if I trust my ear I don;t want to upgrade at least in next 5 years

Interestingly NAD,AZUR etc. actually cost(read deserve) much less than what we actually pay, a significant amount goes in damn tax,AD,distribution, foreign pricing policy! I don't understand how come a FS having dual 6.5" and a 1" tweeter with a state-of-the-art crossover cost 80K? thats brand! some religiously follow it and some bring them to reality, its a listener choice

Hmm ... I haven't seen any negative opinions about Rethm on these forums. Also, most of the folks also have a very high opinion of Cadence products (the person with the most expensive setup on the forum uses Cadence amps). It is hard to believe that the audiophile crowd really cares about 'foreign' or 'Indian'. They probably want to work with a company that they can trust to provide good quality.

I use a *foreign* amp that cost less than a new Norge 1000. The reason I bought it, and not Norge, is that it had been subjected to multiple independent reviews and despite being super cheap had held its own in blind tests. Measurements for the amp were available (yes, I do trust measurement) and although it may not have measured like a Bryston or a Krell, they looked very good.

Even though I had not heard it, I knew what I was buying. I bought it blind.

As for Norge, I could neither find reliable reviews nor any real measurements. I don't know how Mr Bajaj thinks, but I really don't understand how he expects us to buy his equipment when there is so little information available about them.

I do like to support Indian companies but want to support someone who has the genes of a winner. I want the producers to subject their products to more critical testing/reviews and not just try to sell on the basis of patriotic feelgood or as a VFM (Indian hence not good enough but costs less) product.

I'm a guy who believes in specifications too and I too feel that Norge or for that matter any electronics brand should provide as much information possible, to the Customers. But on the contrary, I also find lot of 'Foreign' counterparts who do not provide this complete information.

BTW, is there a way an average person can validate these specifications. For example Continious 70w rms or Max 220 w rms, do you realise what the listener has to go through to test this?

I hope I'm able to put accross my point. Whats the point of this information in that case?

I think 10K in indian store is different than $200 in US online store, and they can't be compared. For that matter this one

http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_n...aps&field-keywords=polk+audio+tsi+400&x=0&y=0

shows Polk Adusio TSI 400 FS at a comparable price with Norge Millenium BS, is it true?? not at all, if you buy it from India situation is entirely different.

my 2cents only

I just came to know that Norge 2060 for which there is ad in Olx is sold for 3.5K only. His quoted price was 6K. I called up that person and inquired about the price.

I gave very good offer to one of the Norge 2060 owner but he refused. :ohyeah:. He is asking his purchased price after many years of usage. :p. I am now comfortable backed off.

Norge amps are good but resale value is not good. Audiophiles look for costlier brands (norge is usually first step into hifi world and people upgrade to amps in higher league) while lesser audiophiles probably get distracted by poor looks, absence of display, the bulky hetasink connected to back , bulky and horrible looking remote etc. The sound is excellent but looks are not better than local market amps. So people may mistake it for extremely cheap amp. The forum member trying to sell it seems to have bought it about an year back. Don't know what he means by 'the amp was being serviced regularly by norge'.

I personally prefer Norge over NAD. I had a NAD 326BEE paired with PSB B6, sound signature of NAD was far inferior to Norge or even HTIB 3300 on stereo mode.

I liked Nad 315 over 326 with PSB.Also I liked DNM system over Norge.

Atlast, I purchased Norge 2060 from a fellow FM with very good price 3.5K for 2009 model. I will use this amp for surrounds with my Denon 1612 and Turntable (To get.).

I tested this Amp and it was working perfectly with my Heco FS. I need to get two more speakers for 7.1 setup.
