Hello Everyone. Good to see a forum in India for home theaters.
I have a 7.1 sound card(implying supports 5.1 too :) ) on my PC which i want to connect to the amplifier of my home theater. But the pc has all 3.5mm jacks and amplifier has RCA female plugs , so how to connect them ?. Also i want to know from which 3.5mm jack to which which RCA(FL, FR, etc..) & how to configure it in my pc(Win 7 sp1 x64) . My home theater is of ADCOM 5.1 channel. Do not know the model number as it is not specified anywhere. Bought it in 2003 does not have a remote. Front, Rear, Bass, Center, Master Volume & 2.1 to 5.1 switch are the only controls which are manual. Thanks in advance :)

You will need three 3.5 mm jack to RCA cable like this 3.5MM Stereo Male to 2 RCA Male Audio Cable 1.5M | eBay

You will also need to set the speaker settings in your computer to 5.1. For this go to control panel, look for your sound card like realtek HD, Creative X-Fi etc. and set the speaker configuration to 5.1. Alternately you can go to control panel > sound> speakers > configure > select 5.1

In the control panel applet, you can see which jack corresponds to which channel. Connect the three cables to the respective 3.5 mm outs. You can play a test signal to check whether the configuration is correct.

In your media player you may sometimes need to set the speaker configuration as 5.1.

Thanks for the speedy reply. Did what u said. I configured both in windows playback & realtek driver realtek driver gave all response to all speakers but in windows playback center & subwoofer were silent. I had to turn on the 2.1 to 5.1 switch to listen to bass otherwise woofer is silent. Can u suggest any media player where 2.1 to 5.1 config can be changed.

Does your amp and card have spdif i/o? That's the best way. If you could post the exact model nos, it'll be easier.

My sound card supports spdif i/o but the amp does not have it. Is there any converter available from spdif to rca ? i bought this home theater in 2003(primitive model :p) so lost all documents. But still i've taken some pics of it so that ucan get some clarity to help me. Link for pics : HT Pics.zip .

As suggested by friends,you can use 3.5mm stereo to 2 RCA cable.
Now even you connect wrongly,there wont be any harm if you keep AVR sound low to check.
usually PC soundcard drivers come with sound testing software(in built),You can try that.

Thanks i connected my adcom amp and my realtek 5.1 sound card with three 3.5 to 2rca cables and configured them in the latest driver. Now the problem is when i test them in the realtek driver the rear two speakers are loud and clear but when i play media thru VLC and KM Player the rear two speakers are almost silent how much ever I increase the volume. I configured both these players for 5.1 speakers. Where did i go wrong ?? :(

Is the video you played in 5.1 sound? Have you configured the speaker setup as 5.1 in VLC and KM player?

@baijuxavior
The videos I played are blue ray rips and I did configure VLC and Km player for 5.1 speaker system. But still I dont get sound from rear speakers. Any solution ?
