In 2010 the following models used sharp panels EX700,NX700,NX800 and all 60" panels.
They then introduced thr EX710,NX710,NX810 in middle of 2010.Reason being according Sony press briefing there was a shortage of Sharp panels made in their joint 10g facility in osaka,Japan. Also the plant was not 100% efficient in 10g terms. So Sony was forced to lauch a new series with a SPVA tech from their joint S-lcd partnership with samsung in korea(they could have done a lottery like samsung, but they didn't).
Looks like the shortage will continue for sharp 'cause the recent disturbing events.

on to the main thread in question.
HOW R PEOPLE BUYING SONY led/lcd?
I was thinking the answer was very simple - "Money".
Every oher person have different degree of Passion/obsession(99.99999% of the time is news to Dedicate HT with all the acoustics in place) , compounded by their pocket size
- at times Money is all the deciding factor for many.
- few have absolute no tollerance to breakdown/bad support etc or Quality is imp. and they take a route where things are broken down to various components ( stages is what all call - i guess) and each stage does the specilization in what is supposed to be needed. - by doing these if any feature is lacking , can be built to it.
- few like simpilicity - ALL-IN-ONES ( tv with bd/dvd player) - no headaches,no wires clutters.
- Features maniac ,like me - eveything is on my PC with 24" simple monitor - as you see, I but cant make out the difference between 6 bit,8 bit or 10 bit color, so I'm ok as long as there are no ghosting, but I'm able to control what all can be played on the monitor or the projector.
...
...
the list can go on with different prespective. But in the end people still end up with "BEST" of their choices. I would better say "OPTIMUM" rather than saying BEST.
...and SONY still fares better than others for a lot many of the consumer base.
