I am having videocon d2h hd box which is having below ports
Av port
1 hdmi input port
1 USB port
1 s/pdif port
Right now the samsung 39 inch led which is having 2 hdmi port in which 1 port is connected with d2h box.
I am planning to buy 5.1 receiver and speakers. If I buy those is it possible to connect d2h box programs via receiver 5.1?
How will be the connections? Like tv from which port to where and from d2h box to where? What all extra wires connector I need ?
Before buying receiver what all things I have to check like how many hdmi ports etc ports required for my setup.
I want to play USB movies also via 5.1without reconnecting wires every time.?
Do I need to buy any DVD player for this..receivers comes with USB ports right ?

There are many ways of connecting the equipments depending on your requirement. Even the basic AVR systems will have 3 HDMI in and 1 HDMI out. You need to ensure the AVR has USB if you are not going to connect a BDP.

One thing you need to check first is whether the HDMI port in your TV is with ARC and D2H gives 5.1 audio thro' HDMI. If yes the easiest connection will be

1. D2H HDMI - > AVR HDMI (IN)
2. AVR HDMI (out) -> TV HDMI with ARC.

The disadvantage of this setup will be that you need the HT on whenever you watch TV.

The other setup is

D2H HDMI -> TV HDMI
D2H s/pdif -> AVR s/pdif (optic cable)
AVR HDMI (out) -> TV HDMI (for watching USB media)

This way you can watch TV with or without HT

to prevent switching it ON always, i have done the below setup:

D2h -> TV (HDMI)
TV (HDMI-ARC)-> AVR (HDMI ARC)

this way you can hear TV sound while watching D2h and in case you switch on the AVR, the sound automatically transfers to your AVR.
