VONTAR A95X F3 Air 8K RGB Light TV Box Android 9.0 Amlogic S905X3 4GB 64GB Dual Wifi 4K 60fps Netflix Youtube Smart TV A95X

Will the following device support Dolby Atmos and DTS streaming.
CUBETEK CBTX3-1GB, Portable 4K Smart TV Box with 1GB RAM, 8GB ROM, Android 7.1, Kodi ,HDMI 2.0, 10Bit, H.265V, Miracast, 5.1 Dolby Media Streaming Device Iis available in 3k on flipkart and amazon. My main objective is only to play all the movies from hard disk thats its. Hence it should support all formats and should stream all the dolby and DTS to my receiver. No other requirement.

Can you suggest some brands which could be reliable in long run.

If you are not looking for more than FHD playback, you may choose Xiaomi Mi box 3 / S, aval on Amazon.in for abt 6K.. It is an Android TV interface, has USB ports and the ability to bitstream Dolby Atmos / Dts X from BR Rips on HDD and can stream (multi-channel out), which is the future.. On top of all these, you get chromecast built-in to stream from mobile..

The device is also capable of 4K playback, but my experience is limited to FHD + lossless Br Rips and it has worked without a glitch..

@elangoas I found online that bit streaming is very limited with the recent updates to Mi Box. Following thread from Kodi developer issue report

Ok.. Wasn't aware Xiaomi Mi Box S has issues with bistreaming.. My brother uses Mi Box 3, works just fine..

I have been using Beelink GT1 for 3 years now. I am pretty satisfied. I am using Prime Video, Jio Cinema, Sony Liv, Prime Music, Gaana for streaming, Kodi for offline playback.

I had sourced it from Gearbest. You can check out it's current model.

Still unable to decide on the player there are lot of players but they will be of no use if they cannot bit stream DD or DTS signals. Before investing I need to make sure that it works.

Not sure why Fire TV stick 4K is not in the list, if not for any particular reason, do not write off Fire TV stick 4K. It is powerful enough to play even HEVC/H.265 10bit encoded movies flawlessly. Played 40-50Gb sized 4K bluray rips h.265 10bit movies from my NAS streamed over 5ghz wifi (this is must for high bit rate movies) using Kodi (side-loaded) with bit-stream audio (both DTS and Dolby True HD; my HT only 5.1 though). Supports upto 7.1 channel if not bit-streamed. Netflix and Prime Video supports Atmos bit-streaming. OS is variant of Android 7 and decently fast to operate. Remote comes with 4 basic IR button to control TV/AVR. Supports all Apps officially.

Did you try playing DTS HD MA/DTS clip on your firestick 4K through kodi? AFAIK firestick in any form does not have dts/hd ma pass through. It may have tru hd but not dts/HDMA. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Yes it can bit-stream DTS on Kodi (enable pass-through, check DTS enabled device) and my Denon 1713 supports only DTS HD, not HDMA. So If I play media with DTS HDMA, Fire TV stick 4k pass-through DTS HDMA as DTS (core DTS) to AVR (it shows DTS on AVR).

So for DTS HD MA let KODI to decode it to PCM (upto 7.1 channel). Fire TV stick 4k uses fork of Android 7 which has latest Android APIs to support DTS. And as you said, it bit-stream Dolby TruHD without problem.

DTS HD-MA tracks also contain compressed DTS as well. So most players with DTS passthrough support should play it as a compressed DTS. For example my Sony television has support for DTS and Dolby passthrough by HDMI-ARC, I was surprised to see it playing DTS HD-MA sample clips only to realize the above. Some more info on this,

Dear All,

With my little understanding, I picked 5 models for android TV box.
And can you suggest a better one please?
If any one is already using one of these, it will be a great help with your feedback.

MY REQUIREMENT:
Must bitstream audio form Netflix and Prime.
Play Lossless audio formats like TRUE HD and DTS-HDMA etc (if bitstream works, this doesn't matter i guess)
Play blueray movies from hard disc (4k is not required)

MY PICKS: (see the attached image please)
1. Tanix TX3 Mini (3.5k )
2. X96Mini (3.5k)
3. MXQ pro (3.2k)

4. Mecool M8S Pro (6.5k)
5. T96 PRO (7k)

First 3 models are under 3 to 4k price range, and the last two are around 7k.
(Not sure why they are more, may be good hardware? )
I do not use gaming at all.

Can you help with my choice please ...

Thanks & Regards
Chaitanya
None for both. I use two devices. Odroid N2 for local playback from Hard disk with CoreELEC. Firestick 4K for streaming. I could not find a device which could do both well.

Can even go for nvidia shield TV pro 2019, wouldn't require to keep separate devices. shall play HDD as well as prime & netflix with support to all latest audio & video format.

I just found that ACT broadband is selling their own Android TV box, it misses on Amazon Prime, but provides 2 USB ports. Does anyone have the same? If all the features work as they advertise, this would be a great value for money.

+1 to this, once i received the shield pro 2019 i never touched the firestick 4k and gave it away to my cousin, Shield pro is amazing ! the SQ, the codecs supported by it, the up-scaling capabilities

Shield pro is the best but has one problem. The Price.

i think for my money firestick 4K is the best streamer when considering best bang for buck.

if you have money to spare shield is a no brainer.

For Amazon Fire TV stick (regular/4k) if you want to attach external USB HDD, use something like this, it works (checked with 1TB WD passport, however not sure if there is any issue with higher capacity). Of course best way to enjoy full potential of Fire Tv stick is to stream from a NAS instead of attaching a HDD.

PS.: My bias towards Fire TV stick 4K is due to its price, support and easy official availability here in India. Otherwise a better choice would be nVidia Shield Pro. Recent Shield (non pro) does not have USB port.
