Starting this thread as couple of members talked me into it.
List here the vinyls that WERE released in india in past and that you want to add to your library.
Help the members get vinyls that you have any extra copies of or the one lying idle with someone you know.
At genuine values though.
Please try not to search for western vinyls here as they are still in production and can be googled.

hey doc....
let me know if u (or anyone here) has extra copies of,

1. Ghazals by FARIDA KHANUM.
2. Sufi / Folk by RESHMA
3. Ghazals by HUSSAIN BUX.
4. Ghazals by MEHDI HASSAN.
5. Ghazals by GHULAM ALI
6. Hindustani classical - KUMAR GANDHARVA, KISHORI AMONKAR

I would be willing to trade with some WESTERN MUSIC vinyls i have OR hindi, classical DUPICATES i have....

Also, i would like some lovers of HINDUSTANI CLASSICAL, GHAZAL and other indian music to post -

"MUST HAVE INDIAN VINYLS"

Sumeet.....

I need,
Aaap Ki Kasam
Betaab
Jawani
Khel Khel Mein
Kinara
Masoom
Yaadon Ki Baraat
All RD Burman :) first.

jitu bisht....
Bazaar is a great choice man....
and if u enjoy KHAYYAM SAHAB'S music, try listening to,

RAZIA SULTAN (especially the tracks - aye dil-e-naadaan by Lata, aayi zanjeer ki jhankaar by Kabban Mirza),
CHAMBAL KI KASAM (track - simati hui yeh ghadiyan by Lata Rafi)..
DIL-E-NAADAAN - (track - chandani raat mein ek baar tujhe dekha hai by Lata Kishore) Kishore at his best.......
The first is an absolute MUST HAVE, for Khayyam's score and Lata's magic.... and the last 2 are worth buying only for just the one track mentioned.....

Rajeev Murali ---- LAHOO KE DO RANG has a great track sung by YESUDAS, if i am not wrong...
could u just remind me which one that is ???
donno how the rest of the soundtrack is.....

I have disco dancer. Wat would you trade?
Also lahoo k do rang has kishore number muskurata hua tan churata hua mera yaar filmed on vinod khanna n shabana azmi.
In addition to what sumeet suggests in razia sultan, try the second kabban mirza track- tera hizr mera naseeb hai , a must listen for those who still miss their first crush.:p. Sumeet however didnt appreciate it but I d still recommend a listen to all.
And yes, the thread is going in right direction. Cheers

With Love -Ghulam Ali

Re. Hindi film music records, I am intrigued as to why there were no composer specific records; i.e., why weren't there any records of the compositions of say (and you can choose your own favourites) Naushad, SD, Jaidev, Madan Mohan, SJ, RD, Salil Chowdhury and so on?

I will be interested (in the long term) in records of

> Guide
> Teesri Manzil
> Teen Devian
> Jhanak Jhanak Payal Baaje
> Anubhav
> Pankaj Mullick, Khursheed

Regards

Madan Mohan, fortunately, has a few good LP's :

- Movie Melodies of Madan Mohan ( Released on Angel/EMI) is a good collection that has hits like 'Aap kyun roye', 'Meri yaad mein tum na aansoo bahana' , 'Kaun aaya mere man ke dware' , ' Aapki nazron ne samjha', 'Mai pagal mera manwa pagal' etc

- I Remember MM : By Lata Mangeshkar - (HMV - ECLP 5966) Is an interesting album where Lataji remembers Madan Mohan, and has her narration interspersed. Has hits like 'Woh bhooli dastan' , 'Woh chup rahe to', 'Haal e dil yun unhen' , 'Teri aankhon ke siva', 'Rasme ulfat ko nibhayen', 'Naino mein badra chhaye' etc

The third LP is , of course, the now-famous, A Treasure Revealed (on Polydor), which has found a new avatar as Tere Beghair, a CD (with additional songs) on YashRaj Music. These are songs from his uncompleted/ unreleased movies.

Which Sharabi ? Madan Mohan's or Bappi Lahiri's.

My personal fav is Madan Mohan's - esp the Rafi solos - 'Kabhi na kabhi', 'Sawan ke mahine mein' and 'Mujhe le chalo'

Love them big time!

Ahaaa.....finally somebody is talking the great bollywood music. :yahoo: Rest of the discussions areound vinyl were more or less around western songs..

So let me SHOW OFF some of the items I have (Ofcourse not for trade or sell  )

Mughal-E-Azam ... Prem Jogan Ban ---By Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan. I am yet to find a better song than this...seems he charged Rs. 25 K in those days for this song when Lata used to charge Rs. 10 K only...still I would say K Asif got a Bargain Deal :clapping:...

It's nice :clapping: collection that you have...musical titles indeed. I have few of them and agree on Mughal-E-Azam.
Regards.

Rocking soundtracks u mention JIMMY TULIP......
and yes, as discussed with DOC Rahil, there had to be people who appretiate indian music more than the PHOREN maal which is discussed in detail in the forum.... hence the need for this thread.....

And like u mention Bade Ghulam Ali sahab asking for RS 25k for a song in Mughal-e-azam.. there is another story which goes on the same lines...

This was in KABHI KABHI by YASH CHORPA.....
The story was inspired by SAAHIR LUDHIYANVI's work titled TALKHIYAN released much earlier than Kabhi Kabhi.....
YASH CHOPRA paid KHAYYAM sahab Rs 25,000 for his work in KABHI KABHI, and SAAHIR SAHAB was paid Rs 200,000 for the same movie.....
and ofcourse, nobody, including Khayyam raised an issue with it.... they all knew KABHI KABHI would'nt see the DARK of a theatre without SAAHIR SAHAB......

MEERAJ-E-GHAZAL - is another great record that u mention man.... Ashaji has matched the great Ghulam Ali word for word.... Also check out the AUDIO FIDELITY of this record.... one of the best.... it could be used as a TEST RECORD......

issigonis,

as deepakjeswal mentioned, there are a few records of compilations of all the leading music directors....
have a few by MADAN MOHAN, SD. BURMAN (also have a couple of Bengali compilations), OP NAYYAR, NAUSHAD, PANKAJ MULLICK, KALYANJI ANANDJI, VASANT DESAI, HANSRAJ BEHL...
there is also the one SALIL CHAUDHRI record i know of....

have'nt seen a lot of SHANKAR JAIKISHAN, RD BURMAN, LAXMI PYARE, JAIDEV though.....

One of my friends just told me yesterday that he may have some old hindi LPs lying at his house.. have asked him to find it and give to me..
EXCITED!
