Hi FMs,

I got the floorstanding Yamaha NSF 140 from Hypercity navi Mumbai (Vashi) for just Rs.5990/-. Will be delivered this weekend - Friday or Sat.
Specs - nominal input - 40 W
Speaker impedence - 6 ohms
6 1/2" woofer
1" tweeter.
rear ported
Sensitivity - 86 dB

Now I wish to set up my stereo thus...
1. For music only - Media Player/USB to Amp to Speakers for music.
2. For entertainment - Media Player vdo signal to TV. Media Player and TV audio signals to Amp.

so amp needs TWO inputs plus a USB input.

Now i need your sugesstions as to what amp should I have to drive these speakers adequately. I generally use mp3 of 320kbps or wav formats from the USB.

I generally listen to western songs, lots of guitar instrumentals, bryan adams, richar marx and hindi songs at low volume for personal pleasure. Looking for good seperation, soundstaging and clarity. Have been using the Altec Lansing ATP3 for a few years now.

Options are
Norge (2060 or 1000?),
Astonia Audio SN300,
Class D (T) tripath amp

Please suggest which is good, AM ON A SHOE STRING BUDGET, low cost Astonia looks good @ 3,500/- but then, dont want to get a low cost amp and regret the purchase decision.

Please help. Anyone selling off his amp for upgradation, please let me know, I wish to buy a amp.

Thanks
Soumo @ Navi Mumbai.

PS - CoolestOne had a 2060 on sale a few weeks ago, could not make it to andheri to listen to it and buy it, is is stiil available Sir??

I have the same speakers connected to Denon 510ae and the pairing is good. But based on your preferences this may not suit you as Denon does not have USB input. I use the ODAC with mini-music pc to play FLAC/MP3 songs over Foobar2000 controlled by Andriod phone.

Thanks

I have new Sonodyne SiA 310 integrated amplifier for sale. It has inputs for CD, DVD, AUX, PHONO, RADIO etc. and a full function remote control, but no USB input. See my For Sale thread for details.

Hello Visionaries,

Its been about One Year with my set up - Norge 2060 with Yamaha NSF 140.
I listen to Jazz, Bob Dylan, ABBA, Bob Marley, Guitar Instrumental etc and also Hindi songs with lots of emphasis on vocals. Very good Bass. A few music interested visitors have asked to see the subwoofer, which of course is not there at all.

Source is my iBall Android Slide (tablet pc) which plays 320 kbps mp3 and flac formats.

Good News - Sound Quality is clear and transparent. Percussion and Wind instruments are very well reproduced. Sound is warm. Voice is very well reproduced. Certain songs feels very immersive. No cracking at max volume, no heating of the amp even with long hours use.

Could be better news - I do not know why, but the volume has to be turned up at least 50% (middle notch) most of the times. After that gain is very god, but upto 50% it seems low to me.

Anyone with similar observation on the Norge 2060?

I do Recomend the speakers and amp combo very highly.

Regards
