Integrating a Subwoofer to my Stereo setup

Hi Friends,

since i would be sailing in the same ship and looking to get a sub and integrate into my stereo setup i have a question

the signal to the sub usually goes from pre out, so is the output port actually works just like a jumper from the input signal or is it a actuall pre amps out put signal after passing throuh the pre section

also if its after passing through pre section does its gain not vary as ver increase or decrease the volume knob on pre or that is how it should actually be ?

sorry if my question is dumb or confusing

Regards

I use REL subs with high-level (speaker level) connection. They therefore get almost the same sound signature as my main speakers.

The subs are connected in parallel to the main speakers in my system. The gain control of the pre-amp controls them in the same manner as the main speakers.

Was out of town for 2 weeks. Just returned back today. Planning to resume my experiment over this weekend.

Would let you know the results soon.

Could you please explain this concept of connecting the sub in details, as i understand you telling that, the sub will be connected from pre amp output

so we need to use a spliter cable etc connect to pre amp output and connect one end of the two out puts to sub the other out put pair goes to power amp ?

or should we connect power amps out put to sub ?

Shivam said he uses high level connections for sub. So he will be taking power amp out and feed the same signal, simultaneously, to main speakers and sub woofer's speaker level in.

I would be trying the low level option with a "Y" splitter at the pre-amp out first and then when time permits, will do the speaker level / high level output from the power amp and feed it to main speakers and sub woofer.

High Level connectivity is not present in most of the subs. In a high level connectivity, the power amps' output is connected to sub in parallel to the main speakers.
