My Hello to all members & my respect to the HiFi Vision community..
This is my first post here. I would like to share some information to my profile.
My name is Vivek Jaiswal ,AKA (Sidewinder18X). I am from Kolkata (W.B).
I started as a DIY from 1986, turned professional. First started my career into domestic hi-fi audio. Building amplifiers and boxes etc. Later diverted towards hi-power amplifier fabrication and service. After extensive exploration in this field. Developed knowledge and skills in loudspeaker manufacturing. Currently
I am into fabrication & re-coning of pro-sound loudspeakers from the past 10 years. Under the brand Hunter Audio & Hunter Audio Loudspeaker Reconers.
I provide re-cone service and parts to all American & European speakers. Starting from the early vintage to the present generation loudspeakers. All parts are 100% Original imported from sources abroad.
I am here to communicate and help out any loudspeaker related problems of foreign origin which are difficult to fix and restore to it's original state.

Welcome to HFV. Do you have any shop? Where in calcutta? Probably we are having another BOSE in DIY.

Thanks. I have a workshop at Amherst Street. Manicktalla Area. Calcutta.

You can visit me at Facebook look for .... " Hunter Audio Loudspeaker Reconers"

Do you do custom builds for enclosures? Sealed/ported/tapped horn/front loaded horn etc?
No, we are not into boxes. We can assist you providing plans for pro-sound boxes which goes with our drivers. Earlier we used to provide design support for the hi-fi home audio ...... sub-woofer, floor standing & bookshelf etc.... when we were into fabrication of small drivers. Seeing the diminishing market of small drivers here in India and not much or any possible scope in the future, we diverted towards pro hi-power drivers.
But we can custom build hi-drivers in small quantity for enthusiastic's like you. If required and time given any challenge can be met using state of the art technology and use of American & European soft parts .... cones, spiders, dust caps and voice coil etc....

I was more interested in having enclosures made rather than drivers to be honest.

Curiously what would it cost to make a high xmax 18-21" driver optimized for sealed enclosures covering 5-50Hz? Xmax around 35-40mm one way, low inductance, large coil, say 2000W AES.

5Hz ????? that is not practical. Have you ever come across one such beast ?. Kindly give one reference. I will like to see what it looks like. 35-40mm one way will require triple or quad magnet assemblies. Will be heck of a heavy fat motor assembly, very low in efficiency. Will need massive power to be pushed to those limits.

Sealed boxes with their shallow roll off and ability to keep excursion in check along with high displacement per driver coupled with multiple drivers in a small room relying on room gain will get you 5Hz. It won't work outdoors.

Most high xmax 18" drivers such as the Mach 5 UXL or RE XXX series or TC Sounds LMS Ultra are all good air pumps that will displace a lot of air for this job. Yes they are low in efficiency and typically require more power, some more so than others.

I had earlier made 1KW & 2KW /12" subs in dual and triple stacked magnet which goes down to 25Hz. Using original parts as used by Rockford Fosgate RFD2112 & RFR3112 subs. Those lower ranges were very lethal enough for an over dose of anything ultimate or anything extream. Never thought of lurking near anything below that range of high power levels especially in Indoors.
Using multiple of such driver ... say 4 per side powered by 8K each side, is enough for every thing to go down.
I can get parts for the ones as you had referred to. Can fabricate drivers of that sort. But practically will be very expensive & has no potential market here in India.

Can you send me a PM with cost estimates?

I agree the market is very small here but there is one abroad, some people there use such drivers for home theater usage to achieve extension to 5-10Hz for movies. There are some tapped horn designs that have a low corner of around 15Hz and they are very powerful in the 15-30Hz octave.

Hello Sidewinder18X,

Your views on this please.
I also have a damaged surround on the midrange of the same speaker.

Hello SIDEWINDER18X,

I have a pair of DYNAUDIO 15W75 that needs voice coil replacement. The cones and surround are intact. Please let me know if you can fix them.

Regards

Can you post some pics of your damaged driver. Is the surround on that rubber or foam ?. I also will be gathering info on that driver for its voice coil .... have they used hexatec wire on that ?. If yes, then they hold the parts for it. Will only be available thru them.

Re: DYNAUDIO ESOTEC 15W-75 PARTS.

My assumption was correct, they have hexatec voice coil . In house factory wound, using made to order proprietary hexagonal wire. Will only be available in re-cone kit form thru them.

Any pointers how to procure the reconing kits?
