As 3D TV seems to be the new fad among people, there is no doubt that it will take TV viewing to a new level. In a time where MSOs(Multiple System Operator) struggle with bandwidth usage and downgrading HDTV aren't there are still challenges in the way of 3D TV becoming mainstream?

3DTV doesn't necessarily mean you watch 3D all the time. For 3D to be implemented in a TV, higher frame rate, better picture processing, better motion resolution and many other things are necessary and those make the TV a lot better even for 2D viewing which is around 90% of the time !!! All that said once in a while watching very well made 3D movies like Avatar, Tron Legacy, Hugo, Avengers etc and playing 3D games really creates a remarkable experience !!!!! I would suggest you better buy a 3DTV and will not regret it !!!

3D broadcasing is now as side by side video. Hence it takes only the bandwidth of any other HD channel

With digital evolution in the world of 3D Tv here to stay , MSO (Multiple System Operators ) realize the need to deliver - both performance and entertainment content. They are addressing the need for limited bandwidth and are introducing new services like HD and 3D to enhance customer experience.

3D TV is not a fad, at least not amongst the well informed. It is just that when shopping for a high performance model, 3D comes in bundled. I would have gladly purchased a 50S50 instead of 50ST50 if that meant price reduction of 15-20k.
