Doc, go to the rhythm house website, on the main page is a little box on the right, where you can add your email id and underneath you can write out your request. they will respond back within minutes! and will charge a nominal shipping amount.... the LP's got delivered to them yesterday! And I am getting a copy delivered to my doorstep today!

Hi all!
I had placed an order for this LP with rhythm house on their website, as described by in an earlier post on this thread. This was at 4pm yesterday.

The door bell rang 15 mins ago and the LP was delivered!

No extra postage (they don't charge postage for Mumbai and greater mumbai suburbs!)

The Lp sounds terrific. Rhythm house is highly recommended. They have been equally prompt with all the other LP orders that I have placed over the last 4 months. if its in stock, it gets delivered within 24 hours. Try it.

Placed an order for the Jhoota hi sahi Lp with SAREGAMA on the 2nd of NOV 2010, expected to get it by 12th.Called up their Kolkatta office and they were good enough to respond to my query with regard to the delivery. It has been dispatched through First Flight couriers.they are trying to streamline the Vinyl issues so more is expected in the next few months to come.......

if they are trying to revive.... great. but greatest wud be if they issue music from late 90s to date which wasn t ever released on vinyl. and that too converted from the original analogue format. i doubt most music during this era was studio recorded in digital format and a vinyl reissue wud have limits sq-wise.
secondly, true revival wud be when at least few thousand new vinyl players are sold monthly for sometime .... sold to ppl who are sucked into the realms of vinyl. new enthusiasts. sales of new vinyl and stuff wont pick pace if they keep pricing them like jhootha hi sahi. should be about 1/3rd of this apiece ie @200inr.(and we must also start a movement to incorporate the newly designed rupee symbol on keyboard where $ etc is.)
if companies dont make a packet from vinyls... okay... this is basically an exercise to promote good sound appreciation habits in users. with onslaught of digi music, most users never ever buy the music off store shelves. they dont mind bad sound if its cheap. its still music to their ears.

Dear friends

All who have interest in vinyl- Lp albums please make a representation to SAREGAMA to restart the option of ordering Lps of your own Choice as it was done by the erstwhile "The Gramophone Company of India Ltd " under the title HMV Music Mail.

As of now SAREGAMA has the facility of ordering CD/MP3 of your own choice hope this may also be done for ordering records of your choice.Only if representations go from vinyl buffs they might decide of launching this kind of facility. I have already sent my representation through their portal. its for the benefit of everyone. please send your recommendations.
Regards
Srinivas

Gosh!!! logged in to HiFiVision nearly after a month and what a pleasant surprise. LP release of Jhootha Hi Sahi.
Ordered it right away ;) before it vanishes into thin air and commands a hefty price.

meprateek,

I see that you have a Philips HiQ International circa 1979. I have the same equipment. I am getting it repaired - the wires from the speakers had cracked, the volume and tone controls had developed some slight noise etc.

Can you recommend some essential safe practices to operate/maintain this system?

Also, any information on HMV/Saregama's vast inventory of Hindustani classical pieces - any possibility of thyese being re-released as new LPs/singles?

Regards

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
