Hi Guys,
I have been looking for a decent TT for my second set up where Project debut III TT has been doing its duty. Did some research for quite some time and finally got myself a Rega Rp 6 from UK. The seller got tonearm adjusted with the spacers so that It could take ortofon 2m red cartridge. Today to my utter surprise got the table delivered to my home by Fedex before time without any problem. Reviewed the Michel Fremer's video on fitting a cartridge on Rega RP 5 and put on ortofon 2m Red cartridge. I am really impressed by this table. Both look wise and sound wise it is excellent. The power supply is really handy and changing speed is very easy and convenient. Overall what was expected from this table has been met. Lets see how it goes. Planning to put a ortofon 2m blue cartridge in future.

Thanks.

@ Prem : Thanks. Well 2nd set up is nothing special but it is more convenient for me for casual listening and enjoying music in my bedroom while doing other stuff.:)

@Joshua : what is the best protractor for setting up rega table in your opinion? I just used the one came with the rega but its kinda very basic stuff.

@Amit: I got it at around 45% discount to Indian MRP including everything.

Pratim,
It is very difficult to compare between Classic II and Rega Rp 6 as the supporting speaker and electronics are very different but it is much better than Project Debut III.

Thanks.

Congrats! Could you share where you bought it from? It looks like they give good service!

Hi Hydra,
I got it from Analogue Seduction from their ebay shop. Yes they are very good to deal with. I see you are yourself a rega user. What is your experience has been so far and what cartridge you are using?

Thanks.

Congrats !. rega 6 is a serious TT and should actually be your main TT..with a good Cart /Phono it can be really great.
is the arm the RB301 ?

Hi Arj,
yes it is a decent TT and perfectly fit my purpose with lots of possibilties to upgrade different things. E.g groove tracer and there is another guy who makes VTF on the fly adjustment for the rega tonearms. In my current set up with sonodyne actives there is no point doing much but I have to change my cart as this ortfon 2m red is at least 3 years old so I need to get a 2m blue soon. The tone arm is RB303.

Thanks.

Hi Guys,
I have a query. I my phone pre amp in the connectors there is no red or white color markings just left and right. http://www.creekaudio.com/instructions/obh15.pdf

In my turntable leads they are red and white and there is no separate ground wire. My question is what should be the proper way to connect them.

Thanks.

Red is for the right channel and white for the left channel

Congrats on your purchase!

I have to say, I feel kind of bad since i've not played my Rega P3-24 in almost a year! I bought it brand new and played it for about a month and then I came across an excellent Lenco L70 that I picked up. Ever since I got that, the Rega has just been sitting in a box. I keep meaning to set it up alongside my Lenco but never get around to it. I can't bring myself to sell it either (a back up turntable is essential). I've mounted an Ortofon 2M Red on it, to match the red body. I have to say, it's a dreamy looking turntable! But the Lenco is a beast!

Congrats on your second rig. Rega 6 is 5-star rater (What-Hifi) and definitely a shining star in its class. Importantly, nice to know that the results meet your expectations and requirement.

Hi,

According to reports from Abhi (Dr. Bass), the 2M Red in some sense may be a better cart than the Blue. If you wan to upgrade, change to at least the Bronze, if not anything higher. The RP6 can take even better carts, but I understand that may be an overkill for your second system.

Regards.

What came with the box ought to be the best:)

PS: some people seem to claim that the Baerwald (inner null at 66mm/outer null at 120.89 mm) is superior to the Rega geometry. See post by Dr Pan K here. Further, there are people who swear that the Loefgren is superior to the Baerwald. It is easy to find out for oneself by using the stupid protractor downloadable off vinylengine.

PPS: I have tried both Baerwald and Loefgren for a Origin Live Silver Mark III and SME 3009/II arms and neither worked for me. AFAIK, the Silver follows Rega geometry. I am not sure what SME follows. I could discern IGD in both geometries. Finally what worked for me was to align the front of the headshell with the front of the cartridge. This works as long one uses cartridges with squarish edges. I understand this method completely ignores the concept of correct overhang, but I must say that I have fiddled around a lot with overhang - including the Keith Howard recommended overhang - and it made no difference to trackability nor to the sound - at least in various setups that I have tried (ADC LMF2 tonearm, SME 3009/II tonearm, Origin Live Silver and Encounter tonearms). YMMV, of course.

Bottomline: try the Rega geometry. It should work best.

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
