Anyone has an idea regarding LG plasmas? LGs updated website show these two models for a good enough price. 50PA6500 which is their latest model for 75k and 50PT560R which I think is their last years model for about 60K. What do you suggest for someone who is buying a flat panel for the first time in his life - was thinking of panasonic plasmas but this seems a very good price point from LG? Thanks.

Wow - atlast someone is considering LG Plasmas. I was seriously scouting for them and mentioned in this forum as well but the overwhelming # of people who go for Panasonic & Samsung just shadows LG, also the fact that LG dealers themselves didnt appear too excited about Plasmas.

I considered 50PA6500 which is available for 65-68K (MRP is 75K as you mentioned) and comes with Full HD (no 3D, no smart features which are not really required). If you happen to like the demo and PQ,go for it & do buy extended warranty for 2-3 years which will cost you 10K while making you future proof...

50PA6500 has 3D as per the link in LG.

65K should be a decent price, I guess.

Edit: On second reading, I see that 3D is mentioned only in the title and nowhere in the specifications or features.

I think its a typo....it is a non 3D TV like rajat mentioned. It really is a compelling buy for that price though especially if one is least interested in the 3D stuff. Wonder why Panasonic does not have really good non 3D TV with good specs - the X50 really is not that a compelling buy, I have to say. It is just ok enough for regular TV viewing. I think LG will come out with the PM 9700 too maybe around diwali - that will have better specs but it will have 3D.

At that price range, your other option will have to be Sumsung 51E550. However, they do not provide extended warranty.

For Pana, unfortunately as you mentioned, you need to go way higher to get a good one.

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
