Hi friends,
I am planning to buy Logitech Harmony universal remote to work with my Denon AVR 1713 , LG 32" LCD and Hathway HD box..Anybody having it plz advice - is it worth buying it ? and is it working nicely with Hathway HD set top box ?

Plz advice..

Harmony remotes are recommended if you have a number of remote controls. I had tried Harmony 525 which is very good. Almost all type of devices are listed in their online database and you can also use the learn method to copy IR codes directly from the remotes. One feature I really liked is the 'activity' button. Create an activity like 'Watch TV' and you can set this activity to turn ON all the devices, change avr to the CBL input and tv to the desired hdmi input all at the touch of one button.

I owned a harmony one some time back, sold it as I found it more convenient to use individual remotes

I am able to control my TV and tata sky with denon 3312 remote. Check your denon remote you may able to configure it.

I think Denon 1713 remote is not capable of controlling other devices..

Check the AVR manual. Sometimes it may be possible. My Denon 1612 has this option to control other devices.

I have checked out the manual but couldn't find it..Can you plz tell me in which section of manual it might be have been given..

In Denon 1612 manual, it is listed under 'Operating the connected devices by remote control unit'. Denon 1612 will prompt for this during the initial setup wizard. May be your avr remote does not have this feature.

True..Coz I have searched google and in some reviews it was written that it is not possible to control other devices with Remote unit of Denon 1713..

I have been using a Harmony 300 to control LG TV, Tatasky, Xbox, and SB Touch. Universal remote cannot get any better than this if you do not need macros or other complex combinations. Set up is a breeze and I have not faced any problems until now.

I have been using the Harmony One remote for over five years now. Apart from the bloating battery problem, it is an excellent remote. It was costly (RRP=$250 when I purchased) and now replaced by Harmony 900; so you may get it at a bargain now.

And to add to the above, once you start using a Harmony remote, you will wonder how you ever survived so long without one. The following comment is exceptional by any standard: :)

How good is this forum!!

Exactly when I was looking to buy a Logitech Harmony 650 Remote, I stumbled over this latest thread.

Is it recommended to control devices incl Denon AVR, Panasonic TV, xTreamer, Samsung BDP and Airtel STB?

Ebay deals seems costlier, Rs. 4440 is lowest I saw.

Which Model is recommended?

But is it still advisable to buy it..?
Which one is better Harmony 300 OR Harmony 650..?

Go for Harmony 650. And yes it is still recommended to buy one. I am using my Harmony 525 for 3 years now. Controls my airtel digital tv HD DVR , my sony LCD , lg bluray player and ps3. It has a pretty large database and even if a device is not listed you can configure it using the learning mode.

Activity feature is awsome. For instance i am watching television with airtel stb and want to watch something on blu ray, i will just select blu ray and the remote would switch off the stb, switch on the blu ray and change to the desired hdmi input on the tv .One button power toggle for all devices.

No hassle of multiple remotes.

I don't know about harmony but I have recently bought a remote called "all for one" with "smart controls". I am able to seamlessly control my Marantz AMP, Samsung TV, Tata sky & even phillps DVD. It has option to program macros - eg. to power of/on mulitple device combinations at one go; learning mode for customising. All of this is working fine. Just thought I should share my experience. Specially useful for those you are not too keen on spending too much. Its costs just INR 1.5K. and can contol 6 devices. Available in Croma.

Bought Harmony 650 @ Rs. 4500 , configured it to my comfort and convenience in 1 hour. Controlling my AVR, TV, xTreamer and Airtel DTH smoothly. Shall post a detailed review soon.

For newbies like me, understanding and configuring a universal remote was really simpler with the web based GUI of Harmony.
