I prefer 4300..excellent with all options supports 7.2.(2+2)...an future ready. Bit expensive but ticks all options. We may not need 7.2.4 but 7.2.2 will be better than 5.1.2

Would have been brilliant if Denon had provided option of 5.2.(4+2) with 6 over heads..Hope 4400 supports that feature..

Not many can accommodate surr back layout due to space constraints in living room.. But any one who has 5.1 setup can accomodate 4 over heads.. IMO, a 5.2.4 should be better than 7.1.2.. More over heads should take advantage of Atmos/ Dts X feel..

I have onkyo tx508, i think i bought it 5 years back its 5.1.2 or ofcourse not dolby atmos but dolby heights .i got this wonderful setup at cost one tenth ,..just sad thing that i miss 4k and dtsx and dolby atmos, everything works fine. It costed me 28k, now the same in denon 4300 costs 120k, so much cost differs but i love the sound of dolby heights. I use for movies than music.its awesome..i prefer 5.1.2 than 7.1 in 5 years old system..denon supports true 7.1.2...so 4300 is an awesome choice than any other receivers

If budget permits look at 3300
Sure but again we cannot configure 7.1 as well as 5.2.2 because we need to select height or surround back..in onkyo i have 7.1 plus zone2 or front height...i dont use zone 2..so i get heights as well as s.back. just need to select 7.1 or dolby heights by selecting mode button than changing wires...its available only at 4300..thanks.

Hi Sunith:

Bought the Denon X2300W in Mumbai from Sound Out, Haji Ali for about 61K one and half months ago with bill and warranty. They are authorized dealers for Denon through KEI who are the official importers. Prices may have come down a bit now.

In case you have friends in Mumbai do ask them to check it out.

I bought denon 2300 from Dubai few months back for around 45k INR. Didnt face any issue with customs while I was bringing that back

That's great news! I knew that anything below 50k doesn't require any customs duty to be paid but it's good to know that it's true. I myself am planning this route for myself. Where did you buy it from?

Consider Marantz SR 6011 also. It's nine channel amplifier with 11.2 pre out. So you can use in 5.2.4,7.2.2,7.2.4( with additional amplifier). Marantz SR6011 slots between Denon AVR x3300 and x4300. Little expensive than x3300 and cheaper than x4300. As per online review SR6011 is better than x4300 in stereo listening due to HDAM preamplifier processing for front channel which usually found in Marantz pre power set.

I can vouch for the marantz SR 6011. Excellent sound quality with 9 Channels of amplification and also has two pre-outs to add external amp and increase channel count to 11.

SR 6011 - 5.2.4 or 7.2.2

SR 6011 + 2 ch Amp - 7.2.4 or 9.2.2

If you have a very large listening room with available space in the back, then put your surround speakers to the sides of your listening position, and rear surrounds behind you. However if there is not adequate space in the back, then those rear surrounds will be money wasted, and will not contribute to the sound field.

So depending on your room you can decide. But in my opinion, it is better to stick to 5 channel setup, with all speakers at ear level, and place 2 speakers right above your listening position for .2 Atmos implementation. The marantz and denon AVR's come with quasi Atmos. So even on discs without Atmos content, they will extrapolate the sound field and use the Atmos speaker to give you 3d sound stage. Just my 2 cents :)

Marantz is awesome. Planning to sell my 6010, or maybe even 7011 once 8012 is available. Truly nice electronics. Cant go wrong with Marantz
