Been there, done that. The sound is OK. Never used expensive speaker cables, so cannot compare. Gives me DIY satisfaction. IMHO for a normal system(not multi-million rupees one) a good branded(Finolex, Havells etc.) house wiring cable of sufficient gauge is enough.

May be you should do a shootout with an open-minded owner of an expensive cable and see how it fares.

Blew up an amplifier? I wonder why? After all wires are wires are wires.... And as long as they conduct...

Google "Cobra." Apparently it sounded wonderful with some equipment and blew up others!

... And, if you want to know more about adverse cable loads affecting amplifier performance, ask Polk Audio about their ill-fated Cobra Cables which tended to blow up output inductorless amplifiers - a cable and amplifier interaction that everybody could hear.

Darn, I ripped up a 31 feet long unused LAN cable before I read this thread. Made a huge mess in the house on the day of Diwali with snakes and climbers across the hall. Need to make some audible difference now. :sos:
