Hi friends,

Please suggest me a warm sound signature bookshelf or mini-tower speakers for pairing with REGA BRIO (50wpc @ 8 ohms).
So I need smooth highs and adequate base not boomy.
Presently I'm using Zensor 7, It has a very good low-frequency effect but boomy in my living room & high freq are very shrill.

Room size : 16 X 11 ft
Budget : 50-70K
Genere of Music: Bollywood n Telugu
Source : Laptop with Windows 7 + Schiit Mod2 DAC
Open for Pre-owned.

Thanks.

Thank you Kumar, these are little out of my budget and final preference if I didn't get any speaker in my budget.

Boominess might be due to room modes.. You can use you PC for EQ to reduce the boominess.
And at what volumes is it bright?

hi, i am also looking for rega brio/audiolab amp from hifimart, its a blind buy without audition.

did you like the amp, how is the sound signature, whether its good for the price tag.

appreciate your feedback

Castle speakers go well with Rega amps, if open for used route try the below ( I don't have any connection with the seller)

Hi.... most of the UK audio sites and shops, have bundled deals on rega brio with Qacoustics concept series speakers. So I guess they make a good match. I've had my concept 40's for almost 6 years now. And never been tempted to change them. Lovely sounding warm speakers with a very smooth and sophisticated sound. My wife loves them more than me :)

But before you consider a speaker change, please bear in mind that dali speakers are designed as wide dispersion speakers. So the tweeters have a large off axis radiation. So if do not toe the speakers-in. Or the treble will get too hot and bright.

Rega are tuneful and fast amps. But slightly on the leaner side of neutral. So smooth sounding speakers with a little weight will do well. Qacoustics and those sexy looking wharfdale linton's come to mind. But do have a audition before you buy, we all have different ears in the end. All the best :)

For most of the tracks, in between 9-10 O' clock volume position.

Correct it may be because of the room.So using EQ(FooBar) I can reduce both highs n lows....
I'll try this process.

Thank you.

It's a blind buy for me, though couple of hfv friends suggestions helped in buying. It's a fantastic amp, I think it's very neutral wrt sound signature. On paper it says 50wpc @ ohms, it's driving very easily my Zensor 7. I've never crossed 10 O' clk position.

I'm sure you never be disappointed...experts can suggest rest.

Thank you.

Thank you Dhurai. I'll check on them .

Use parametric equalization.. you need to detect the problem frequencies.

Perceived brightness might be due to distortion from the amplifier ( 50 watts is pretty low)

You may look for Monitor audio Bronze 5 or KEF Q550 speakers. To my auditioned monitor audio was detail and little warm where as Kef Q500 was neutral. Both have fantastic Center image with very good vocals and high frequencies details with plenty of micro dynamics. But both have limited and polite low end extension. Both have great build quality with miniature footprints.

When I hear warm, Castle speakers come to my mind. The knights 2 are bigger stand mounts and they may pair well with your Amp. But before getting rid off the existing Zensor 7, try different speaker placement to see if the boomy bass and piercing highs can be controlled. One quick fix for boomy/muddy bass is to avoid placing speakers close to the wall. Since you've already pointed out that the highs are bright, you may perceive it even brighter if the speakers are pulled far away from the wall. To address the highs, identify the first reflection points and treat. If you have the habit of removing the speaker grills while listening, just try with grills on. This can help tame bright highs to a limit. These are easy to try and see if you like the sound, if nothing seems to work, change the speakers.

I'm not inclined towards using an EQ, so can't recommend using a software and fiddle with dB and frequencies. I have heard a lot about miniDSP, and it can offer a solution if you try the EQ way.

Sure I'll check and audition the Q Accostics concept series. Wharfdale LINTON is out of budget. Thank you.

What a funny world we live in :)

Iam using an active crossover with passive magnetic TVC preamps, and then audio processors for bass correction :D

I started as a purist...but not anymore after I've seen the benefits :)

Similarly next upgrade might be multichannel music..
