Hello guys, I'm getting a good offer(i guess so:confused:) on 6 yr old Sony MHC-VX33 music system. Am planning on hooking it up with my PC.
Need your valuable suggestions..

Currently using Xonar DX+VS4121..

Its my Dad's friend, selling MHC-VX33 for Rs. 1200. Flawless condition, working perfectly. He is leaving the country, so he wants to sell it..

MHC-VX33 has a power o/p of 2*100W.

Its been a long time since i used a hi-fi system. My question is,
will it sound atleast equal to logitech Z2300?
And, Is it worth getting it?

Thanks in advance..

For Rs. 1200/- get it immediately. One day it will become a vintage item and you can put it for sale here for say 12K.:D

Sony systems are known to be boomy in general with very odd bass output. They do have some good models but not many.
There is nothing wrong in connecting it to pc if you like its sound while playing an audio cd. Just ensure that it has an auxil in or line in socket.
Dont look at that 100w figure. Just ensure that it does not go into distortion zone at the usual volume level that you use. Sony used to give figures in PMPO Which really doesnt mean much. I have heard a sony all in one micro system with just 10w/ch and the sound was very good and adequate for 10X10 room.

Thanks for the advice...
And this music system is imported from singapore...:licklips:
Also i'm aware of the PMPO/RMS wattage..

Will check for distortion levels...:)

U mean bookshelf speakers are bad for PC audio?
As
people told the BS speakers with Hifi systems were designed to give more bass, some specially wound voice coil ,glossy cones to make the speakers look cool

spoiling the mids and other characteristics , Bass is enhanced in the digital section and pumped .

if you wanna use speakers go to the PHILIPS power house era ,old black colored panasonic 2 cassate systems (avoid plastic outer speakers , choose the MDF types), pick those BS speakers ,plain and good drivers . pair with tripath DIY amp (2k Approx) ,Just tweak the crossover

you will love it .

I remember my Aiwa Hifi system 15 yrs back, had 2*60W RMS... The SQ used to be awesome..

As i'm getting this sony unit for a good price, i'll give it a try... As i'm jus a noob in audio systems..
Can u give some more info on the amp u are talking about?

About the amp, there is one of the longest threads on forum started by Psychotropic. It is Topping Tp 2020 amp being compared to Nad 320. The ready made amp will cost about 4k. SQ supposed to be excellent but power is about 9w rms /ch. No remote. Single input , no line out.Its a plain amp based on Tripath chip. You need to use high sensitivity speakers with that.

Having said that, if you are happy with the sound of the sony system in question, there is no reason not to go for it :)

From my own experience, the more you indulge in tweaking, the more you get worried about sound quality rather than music quality in addition to being constantly unhappy:(.
I would say it is a recipe for being unsatiesfied. But still i am content to be a tweaker as it just involves positioning my speakers and not in the electronics part.

True.. Thats the reason i've been switching the speakers a lot..

be it girfrenz and speakers ... if you are in control all is well .
initially let-me-try thing will be there , no one can help .
But the speakers i told you will also cost same .... :)

Yes! You are going to be broke soon. :D Now you will think openly about a lot of options and will end in spending more than you had decided initially.

May be.. My mind was fully set for those speakers.. I've even decided on positioning them...
