Monitor Audio Silver RX1, worth buying?

Hi:

Don't think any of our folks here own RX1. Said that, the reviews all over are quite encouraging and they seem to be stonking BS indeed. The new RX1 seem to have less of the brightness that RS1 are known for, so I guess you have a speaker now you can listen to much longer time. IMO, the RX1 might gel well with brighter amps too.

:)

dear sir

i think there are two owners/ex owners on this forum of the RS1
i think homiyar had a pair

ive heard these speakers(RS1) in two setups

they are absolutely lovely and the only reason i didnt buy them was that i coudlnt afford them
build quality is super with real wood rather than vinear
the SQ is fantastic in its price range.- the highs are just breathtaking without a hint than irritating zing
the bass is quick

Playback Magazine has rated the Monitor Audio Silver RX1 very highly. Any user opinions here?

Yes, they are RS1 users.

Y'see the OP is talking about the new range of bookshelf speakers from MA called RX series and not the old RS series. The RX series starting from RX1, RX2, RX6, RX8 - all are more refined in the treble department whereas the older RS series are more on the brighter side (this is well known) and myself using MA RS6 for the past two years stand proof.

So, it means that new RX series from MA can shake hands well with brighter amps like Naim, Rotel, Cyrus, CA, etc., and never show hint of brightness in the SQ whereas the older RS series need warm amps.

Had a short audition of RX6 out of curiosity. Paired with Primare pre/power. Sounded very good. But then my RS6 also sounded similarly good with same Primare amps. The Monitor Audio signature sound was clearly there(along with Primare's).

Despite of the nitpicking that some reviewers do, a new owner of RX6 shouldn't be too concerned. RX6 has similar signature to a RS6. Can definitely buy it for.

Haven't heard RX1...but based on my audition of RX6, RX1 should be similar to the RS1. I have RS1 as well. Good speakers, though they are pretty underutilized as my surrounds.

A beautiful, well-constructed speaker with class-leading soundstage, imaging and bass that is fast, deep, and precise.
