I had done a stupid mistake. The distance parameter set in AVR was wrong - I had set it to be distance from AVR vs distance of speakers from me. Making that change improved the experience.

Auto mode is good too. I feel, it largely depends upon the source - Hotstar doesn’t have Dolby content and not all amazon videos are mastered for Dolby.

Check Special ops first 10 minutes (attack on parliament) on Hotstar. You can clearly hear gun shots from surround speakers. I was pleasantly surprised by 5.1 effects from that opening scene.

Never knew Hotstar has started streaming in 5.1

I always set DSP as AUTO while watching movies on OTT and I am satisfied on the surround effect from 585 AVR

Never touch the driver cones to wipe the dust. I always use a dense and soft bristles brush to remove the dust once in two months. Don't be agressive on that else you should repent later.

The surround sound effect seems to have gotten better. When I play DTS audio or surround audio from YouTube, the feel is good. The surround feeling largely depends on the source and respective quality. Will continue to explore.
