Hi All,
I am doing my doctorate and I need a good quality voice recorder to record professors lectures as they are very fast in delivering the lecture. I am unable to grasp everything and write everything in note. My budget is around 5K. I don't need hi fidelity but should have high noise immunity from ambient noise. I tried using my smart phone but it is not that much sensitive and recording contains noise and not clear.
Searched in amazon found this is good but out of my budget. Need your suggestions.

Will you be able to get the recorder close to the professor/lecturer/speaker? If not it doesn't matter as you will get significant noise while trying to boost levels, etc.

No I can not. I thought a dedicated recorder can do better than mobile phones.

A dedicated recorder will be better but if you are very far it won't help as much as you think it will. Better than a phone? Yes, definitely but you will pick up a lot of other noise and sounds. How quiet is the room during the lecture?

option -1

I don't think a sound recorder like this is useful in your case. It will capture all the other noise, like phone microphones. I would suggest you buy a shortgun microphone; it will capture only sound from one direction, so you can place it towards the professor, and it will record his sound and not capture sounds from the sides. If it still records other sounds, you can use sound editing software (audacity) and lower that particular frequency, and then you get crystal clear audio.

option 2

Audio editing software like Audacity is fantastic; they have all possible options in there. If you want to save money, you can record with your phone microphone or buy a microphone for your phone, then install Audacity, and you can remove noise or unwanted sound from it. It's pretty easy. If you check YouTube, there are many videos about it.

Almost silent. Not much noise. It is air conditioned class room with closed windows.

Thanks for the suggestions. But it seems the Audacity is not free have to pay. Do you know any good android Voice recorder app?

You can download the Audacity cracked version from a torrent. If you can't find it, I will check for it. I used it before. I think there are a lot of good apps for Android. when i check online i found these 2 apps.
1. audiolab audio editor recorder
2. dolby on
