Hello,
I am going to purchase an LED TV and a bit confused between the resolution of 720p (1366x768-HD) and 1080 (1920x1080-Full HD) as there is a considerable difference in the price of the both.
I have short-listed the following models of Samsung 32 Inches:
(1) UA32EH5330RLXL
(2) UA32EH4500RMXL

Also the comparison between the two can be seen on the link :

Best LCD LED TV, Plasma, 3D & Flat TVs Samsung India

As one can see except resolution all other parameters and features are almost same, which model i have to choose.

Plz. reply earlist with logic to convince me....

Thanx a lot.

For 32" HD ready should be enough. 1080p on a 32" is not going to be noticeably different from 720p.

Hi,

If you are a perfectionist go for 1080p. Just consider a simple case - for 1080p you should be able to display a palette of 1080 different shades arranged vertically one after another with each pixel showing unique color. For 720p however the pixel density is limited to 720 vertically. So to display a 1080 palette some digital enhancements needs to be done.

This difference is observed when viewed very closely.

If you seat far away...difference is hardly noted. So decide accordingly.

For a 32 inch TV 720p is perfectly fine. At the viewing distance you will not be able to tell the difference between 720p and 1080p for this size TV

Most of the time, one will be watching TV transmission. The HD transmission is 1080i. At a distance of 8 feet or more, most people cannot make out the difference on a 46-50" TV, forget 32". It is only when text, titles or very sharp objects are displayed on the image, one can make out HD-Ready (720 i/p) from Full-HD (1080 i/p). When it comes to 32", the screen is even smaller and the difference will disappear as close as 4 feet. Even if you play back true full HD stuff from blu-ray, you will still not be able to make out much difference - the difference will be only in your mind. So if you are considering 32" TV, do not bother to spend any money on:

- Full HD 1080p: 720p of 1366x768 resolution is more than sufficient
- LED: No need of LED, LCD is good enough
- Smart features: Useless completely, use your laptop instead
- 3D: one can't get the immersive experience in such small size, need at least 46"

Upto 32 inch 720p will do without any difference......another question is do we really need 1080p display in 5 inch screen mobile phones.......

I am confused after this thread. I am planning to buy 42 inch plasma tV i.e P42ST50D which is 1080p. Now if 42 inch plasma viewing form 6 to 8 feet distance doesnt make difference to your eye between 720p and 1080p then I am paying much higher amount. I think then I should go for XT50.

Please help.

You pay much higher for ST50 because of many reasons:

- neoPDP panel
- infinite black pro filter
- 12,288 shades of gradation
- near 8000:1 native contrast ratio

But all the above features make a huge difference for watching hollywood movies. They do not matter to much when watching TV soap operas or such stuff. So it all depends upon what you watch. Over 50% of my usage is for movies and hence ST50 is right for me. Otherwise XT50 or UT50 is good enough.
