To get to the settings without display, you might need to check if there is a setup physical button on your AVR...Some AVR have...
@elangos : Thnks. will check them.
As promised, Just a short impression of the speakers I auditioned :
I am an amateur here and I have tried to express my best of knowledge & have written what I felt and please bear with me for any mistakes. Kindly do correct me if anything wrong.
Source : MP3 320Kbps and some VBR too since my most collection consists of them but will soon move to FLAC and ofcourse CDP in future
hyeah:
Polk TSX440 :
Pairing : Denon x1000
Most of the reviews state one thing that polk sounds best for movies. At first, I am not impressed at all, the mid range doesnt seem clear and bright enough for me but on the plus side, the soundstage is big and it feels like it can express the full bodied sound if you can excuse slightly laid back mids but definitely will be perfect for movies if taken with the full package. Since my initial primary usage is music, it doesnt do well for me.
Kef Q500 :
Pairing : Denon x1000
Both the Polk and Kef was auditioned in one place(Profx) hence I am more comfortable with the comparisons here. Kef sounded lively with the amazing life like voice clarity but lacks bass slightly compared to polk neverthless overall I liked kef among these two eventhough price is on higher side.
Q accoustics 2050 :
Pairing : Yamaha V675
One thing about the Q accoustics that comes to my mind is it felt big enough in terms of sound and vocals felt similar to Kef (positive). Somehow I am not attracted to them eventhough I dont feel anything to complain.
Revel :
Pairing : Yamaha V675
Forgot the model no but the person from decibel switched to Revel bookshelf from Q 2050 to get the feel of bookshelf(similar pricepoint). Honestly, I dont like them eventhough better engineering would have undergone compared to similar priced FS. They sounded narrow, soft and it doesnt felt even half lively as Q 2050. Adding speaker stands will shoot up the price upto 7x,000. Definitely I am not interested.
Sonodyne 2605 v3 :
Pairing : Yamaha RX673
After been praised with many online reviews, I dont want to miss these. It felt very powerful but bass is boomy for me and also vocals doesnt sound clear enough compared to z5 which is a league above. But for the given price, its a steal and definitely VFM.
Monitor Audio BX5 :
Pairing : some Yamaha one I forgot
With little expectation and no idea about BX range speakers, I auditioned them but to my surprise, it sounds pretty sweet with clear detail not as Z5 though but sounds more musical than Z5 with more bass. But I am not able to audition them thoroughly since the source was Musical Fidelity CDP which is unreasonable to compare with MP3 which I used them in all other audition. My idea is that if it sounds good with Low quality format(MP3) then it will definitely sound better with the FLAC. Due to incompetent and poor technical knowledge of the technician (the audio people) I cant test them. what the heck, they dont even know to switch to usb mode input in avr & they are not ready to switch speakers for comparison since they dont know about it.
It was offered with the most discount since they want to clear them ASAP.
Monitor audio RX6 :
Pairing : Same as BX5
They dont look imposing as polk550 given the higher price range but they do everything better (sounstage, detail) whatever they can. Even sound integrity is almost there. Yet I cant justify the huge price difference eventhough it performs better particulary BX5 in comparison. I am told by the salesperson that its doing well in sales even after 4 years. So, theres not much discount been offered on these neither my budget allows me.
Dali Zensor 5 :
Pairing : Yamaha RX673
Eventhough its size looks diminutive, the soundstage is wide and vocals are clear & bright which suits my taste. The highs sounded little harsh too me and bass is tight & felt enough. The instrument separation is clearly above all the speakers I auditioned which makes me seal the deal.
Roth RA3 & RA4:
Pairing : Yamaha RX673
Those who love laidback sound will like this speakers. Compared to Z5, bass is little heavy and vocals sounded very soft and instruments sounded narrow. I striked them off my list after few minutes of audition.
Last audition (deal finalised) :
I want to test sonodyne and dali with my denon 2113 avr hence I auditioned them again with mine and found them to be slightly less bright compared to yamaha but neverthless I liked them and its upto my satisfaction hence decided on Z5.
Now, the greed starts itching why not choose z7 Since price difference is ~10k but then I realised my room size will be an overkill and also z7 is not available for audition anywhere. Hence with heavy heart finalized on z5. Hope my decision is correct and prove to be enjoyable
.
One query :
Any recommendation on speaker placement and also any tweaks in setting for better transparent sound imaging since I am particularly picky interms of colored sound hence thinking to use pure stereo mode as of now.
Still waiting to receive my package
