ST30 can be bought for 90K and even less . There was a recent online shopping site giving st30 for 91K i suppose. showrooms can go even further down. I got mine @ 91K 3-4 months back.

St30 has fast phosphor and it has absolutely no flickering !!

Dont bother much on 2D--> 3D conversion , in reality it wont give you much and its not equivalent to real 3D .

Also 3D content as of now is less and when the initial hype gets settled , you might want a good PQ TV.

ST30 is better choice imo for HD and 3D content.

51D550 is great, especially for the price. I am using it from September and I am happy overall. I used both 2D and 3D. 3D conversion is, at best, fun to watch. 3D movies are different though. It was fabulous. SpyKids 3D, RIO 3D, UnderSea IMAX documentary 3D etc were very good. Active Shutter didn't create any headache even after watching the full movie. Airtel HD is very good and SD is decent. Colour and brightness are good (in fact helps while watching 3D). Note: My 4 year takes the glass off after sometime saying it is heavy (he did it in the theaters also). Sound is enough (but then, most flat panels are at par in this department).

My complaints are small quirks (like the oft discussed curtains and requiring Samsung wireless dongle, which I circumvented through Wireless BR player).

The airtel logo appeared after a long time ... And I have to run the anti-retention bars. A hint still remains though that do not bother me at all.

Tried the normal USB drives and works very well. Plays most formats. Didn't try larger drives, yet.

If any of your friends are coming back from US, ask them to get the 3D glasses from Best Buy (they were selling it for 25 or 29$).

If you plan to use AllShare, be ready with a N-router (not a TV problem; but something to keep in mind).

my ST30D was able to read samsung goflex 500 gb but took close to 3 minutes to index all the contents. it played the .mkv format without any problems. .mpg was not played though the file was indexed. i got the tv for 88.5K yesterday (18 jan 2012)

Can you please let me know if the MKV is 720p or 1080p? Was it DTS or AC3 audio? Thanks.

Best Price till now got for Samsung 51D550 in pune is 61750 INR. ( Along with 2 3D glasses)
