Hi All, I am a newbie in this forum and would need help from the experts regarding an issue I am facing with my plasma TV. I bought the 51e8000 last year during Diwali offer and it had been working like a charm till recently. Last month vertical line started coming on the panel. Initially it was only one line, and now it has increased to 4.
Service engineer visited and said I need to change the panel. It is fine since the TV is still under warranty.
But, it is been 3 weeks and no calls from service center guy and when I check with them, they are saying that part is not in stock and would be available in another weeks time. What should I do about this and also, more important concern is; even if they come with a panel, how can I make sure that it is a new one and not something which have been picked from an old TV? Just have 3 more months before warranty period is over and don't want an old panel, which goes faulty in another 3 months.

Any pointers would be helpful.

Warranty on new/replacement panels from Samsung is valid for one, yes 1 month. How much did they say a new panel would cost? They gave me a quote of 25k odd with taxes and everything (50" plasma). Push for a free replacement of the whole unit.

If your TV is under warranty, then register a complaint properly, sent them mails so that you have proof that you reported the problem within warranty period. If panel is not available they should replace the entire set. Panasonic replaces faulty pieces with new model if the old model is not available. Don't know if Samsung also follows it.

You should register your product at first. Then make a complain through online. You should not worry about panel,SAMSUNG will give a new one with no doubt.

Ya, have a mail copy of the complaint. Might be useful in worst case.

thanks all for the replies.

today i got a call from the Service Center and they said panel is not available. Initially they said TV will be replaced. but looks like TV also not in stock and they will refund the amount.
This is sort of sad as I really liked the TV. not sure what else can be done now.
