Gentlemen,
Recently got a Apple lightening to USB ADAPTER for connect iPhone as source with my Anthem MRX520 avr.

AVR has optical and HDMI inputs only.

Kindly let me know how to connect adapter to amplifier as it has USB female connector.

Did I have to buy any accessory to make it?

Advice will be helpful..

I am sure you bought this https://www.apple.com/shop/product/MD821AM/A/lightning-to-usb-camera-adapter which is for connecting your phone to a DA converter. The USB on your Anthem is for s/w update; this adapter will not work. You have two options now -

1. Buy something like this https://www.walmart.com/ip/Lightnin...L1lxzHVT7ix01c_kQchxU8J8eDAPlOpkaAjC-EALw_wcB

2. Buy a DAC

Option 1 looks reasonable.

ALternatively, you can also buy https://www.amazon.com/Certified-Li...t=&hvlocphy=9026832&hvtargid=pla-841179335950 and use a 3.5 mm to RCA cable to connect your phone to analog input of Anthe,

I use my iPhone for listening to music in my Denon 4500 using AirPlay. Doesn’t the anthem support AirPlay? It’s the best option and works very smooth.

AVR doesn’t have AirPlay support itself . I didn’t impressed with sound quality of Apple TV connection .

As rightly mentioned by bornfi here:
1. Apple lightning to HDMI adaptor -> HDMI cable -> Anthem HDMI input
or
2. Audioquest DragonFly Red or Cobalt, you already have the lightning to USB to connect the Dragonfly -> 3.5mm to RCA cable -> Anthem RCA analogue input

Thanks @bornfi ...!
As you suggested option 1,
I have purchased a new lightning to AV adapter in amazon.

Now the phone acts as a player.

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
