Hi,

Can someone give your expert opinion comments about samsung's latest LED TV: 40EH5300 / 5330 (only difference I guess is that the latter has apps & browser).
My understanding is that both are backlit (without local dimming?) and has refresh rate of 100 hz. Is this actual rate or is it simulated? Thanks in advance for your help.

most people in avsforums think its full array not edge lit
and i think its true refresh rate is 60hz the 100 is the CMR (clear motion rate, samsungs marketing gimmick)
not sure though i got the 32eh5000 5300 might be different

Absolutely... It is Backlit LED (reason why this TV is much thicker than other samsung edge LED) & it's actual refresh rate is 60 hz only.... I was under the impression that backlit LED will be expensive than edge... Not sure how this one is cheaper? Is it because it doesn't have local dimming, which means less contrast ratio?

as far as televisions and monitors go, never to read too much into numbers and technicalities they tend to complicate things a lot.
i personally follow a very simple philosophy go for the one in your budget which looks the best (picture quality-wise) in multibrand stores.carry your own 1080p reference videos.
1 thing really impressive bout this one is despite demoed alongside the monsterous 6-7 and 8 series 2012 lineups by samsung, the eh5000 didnot look absolutely out of the league against its obviously stronger and expensive brothers while playing reference demo discs.visit the nearest samsung plaza you will understand what i mean.

EH is not full array led..full array led tvs are very expensive..and EH5300 is not expensive..only very high end models price over 1 lk may have full array led.

Samsungs marketing strategy. Lower end tv only eh comes with full array and es higher end tv comes with edge led, makes people think edge is better than full array. But check lg full array comes in expensive models

Exactly my point here Lijo..how come they sell full array in cheap price...are they hiding something?

Yeah read my above post. Cnet guys are not idiots. It's full array, but no dimming, dimming comes for models above lakhs for samsung and for lg full array comes around 75k but no dimming on LG too. Samsung plays hell lot of Bs in tv segment.

Almost decided to buy Samsung EH5330 (which has wifi enabled). However, instead of buying wifi dongle, thinking of getting a wifi router & bridge it with my existing wifi modem (present in a different room) & connect the new router & tv using ethernet cable... Undergoing all these pain because there is no phone line / jack near my TV :(

Have done the exact same network setup as you are planning but am unable to connect to the internet, it does detect the network settings automatically though. Whenever you do your setup, pls do let me know if you succeed.
