need to buy a new avr

guys i currently have hk 134 avr and hk cinestyle 9 speakers. i have connected my ps3 and avr with optical cable,lcd and ps3 with hdmi cable, m not satisfied with the overall sound quality of my home threater.

do i need to change my avr?
if yes then suggest me a good avr for my speakers.

plz help me...

you can't go wrong with Marantz or Denon when it comes to receivers. These would be better choices than HK. Also please remember a lot depends on the room acoustics. You might have a great system but if the acoustics is all wrong then it will still sound mediocre.

What aspect are you not satisfied with ? Why dont you take a demo of any new HTS- Onkyo HTS 3400/500 or a Denon 1312 ? Whts the budget that you are looking at ?

i m like ok with my speakers but somewhere i read that hk134 is not a gud avr. so i am kind of confused.
i have heard that it does not support hd audio. is dat true?

I think your AVR is not capable of taking audio from HDMI cable. So it's obvious that you connected a player either with coaxial or optical.HD audio is not supported by these cables. If you want DTS HD and true HD you should connect player with HDMI.

I suggest you to go for latest receivers...

go for either Marantz or Denon. JBL speakers seem to be on the brighter side so a warmer receiver would work better with them. But since you already have a receiver what more do you expect if you were to change? Think about that.....
