Dude, you're talking on an English forum in Tamil which means a majority will not understand you. That does not mean I have ego or I am Hitler. It makes you insensitive and makes this a badly moderated board.

Chill out.

How active was you here from october 2009,just 485 posts, mods should be active, surely there previous posts matters.

If it is not there, you will not find it.

My bad, I always thought it was a rule, so mentioned it.

Agree. No longer needed/Upgrade is a valid reason.

Can be frustrating i know. Start a thread asking for options except Wharfedale:ohyeah:. Btw, have nothing against the brand, I use Wharfedale surrounds too.

For Sandeepmohan,:)

In the budget range Wharf excels and more over it is also an another Foreign(UK) brand we are behind. Another more important it is priced similarly sold in abroad which makes attractive and also suspicious for somebody about quality. Adding with this I have to mention about wharf dipole sounds which made my listening/surround experience improved a lot at least by 50% when changed my Jamo surrounds..

Yesterday I spent some useful time with an knowledgeable member of HFV in chennai who is dealing in this kind of stuffs and had a nice chat and he told the theory and physics is same for all manufacturers to make speakers and why the price difference is huge and differs in output? Every speakers have their own brand name and price tag stamped on it and ultimately it is your human ears accepts which is good.

While asking suggestion by mentioning his budget is less than 20K or 40K Showing an arrow towards 1Lac book shelf speakers immediately will make you to kick out of the guy from your thread.

You're right. I originally joined HFV when my Denon had a problem and I needed help from members here. A few months ago, a couple of friends introduced me to the world of serious two channel audio and ever since I am a very active member.

Why don't you go through a list of my posts to see if they match your exacting standards?

Afaik venkatcr is active and I see him all day online (may be some time offline),then why our forum need a new moderater?

I got 86 reputations and you got 90 so,why I dont think of being a mod,if not suri I can vote for kittu.

Then please do. I am not canvassing for your votes. In fact, the reason I stepped up was because I expected people to appreciate the gesture. As of now, three people have shown that while you are making it a personal competition.

Clearly, since you have more posts than me, you must be a better person than me. I bow before your greatness.

I RETRACT MY STATEMENT ABOUT WANTING TO BE A MOD ON HFV.

Well said Bluu:clapping:

Wow ,then we can start a poll,
,does hfv needs a new moderater.if the polls suggest more moderaters then we can have a poll to select one.

I am not sure I understand the purpose of this thread. I personally find the forum well moderated. Probably there is a need for a moderator, but activism in getting this done generally makes me suspicious of the motive, but then it could be just me.

If people do not like 'Wharfedale's' being given as the de facto option, nobody stopped anyone from giving better options. If your posts have weight, people will appreciate you and probably stop giving just a one dimensional recommendation.

Lets not be an elitist forum, we will have all sorts - the newbies, the interested, the half-knowledge guys, the gurus. One can see the persons reputation and give weight to their views.

and BTW, I hate T-BHP :)

I agree with the OP.

This is not to put down the existing moderators. It could be that they do not have much time on their hands or the guidelines are pretty much laid-back.

The job of a moderator is a hard one and it is pretty much a full time job. And it is not a thankless job. If done well all will thank you for it.

There is a hell of a lot of trash content floating around on this forum.

TBHP is a stellar example of how a forum needs to be run !

Activism, motive, suspicion, elitist? Where are you coming from? I was trying to help out. What could I possibly gain by being a mod? Everyone already agrees that it's a thankless job.

Can you share why you hate T-BHP?

While I have time to roll in the grass with a shirtless back, chewing on a stalk of grass, I really don't have the time for any policing or moderation. :ohyeah:

That is why I vote for you as the mod, so that you won't have time for chewing grass :ohyeah:

I am not that active around here. So, how many here use "Report post" button to report useless posts? I don't think it's that easy to moderate a forum like this even if one is online 24 x 7.

This is not a democracy where people get to elect a leader. This is more like a job, where qualifications matter and senior management will choose a suitable candidate, i.e. if they think a person IS needed:)

Activism - When someone starts a thread that we need a moderator, thats perfectly fine, but one doesn't need to propose a name for the same in the same post.

Don't get me wrong, you maybe the perfect person for it but moderators should not be a popularity contest and should not be decided on votes.

If the senior management is choosing then no need of this thread.

Well, you should have just asked instead of being suspicious :)

Sandeep and I are old friends and he thought I would make a suitable candidate. Also, he knew of my, now dead, desire to be a mod to help improve the forum.

Completely agree with you about the popularity contest bit. No wonder my previous attempt to become a mod failed as well. I gather I'm not good enough.

Cheers!

If you want HFV to run like T-BHP, we have to block all posts, read each posts, and then only allow posts that we think are correct. That will take care of your incorrect posts as well your SMS language, use of bad words and all that. This will cut the discussion in HFV to less than 10% of what it is today. And, this if all the moderators work 8 hours a day. Remember, we do not take any remuneration from HFV. Actually I, for one, will be very happy with this arrangement.

BUT, I am sure there will be umpteen people who will complain their freedom is being curtailed.

My posts in Shanthi's 'For Sale' may have been an oversight, but it has been a custom at HFV that all sellers give a reason why they are selling a product. My apologies for calling it a rule.

Cheers

That was never the idea. HFV has its own identity. It just needs a little bit of clean-up, that's all.

We know you have a real job and cannot be available all the time. That was the original intention when I volunteered.

We could have found a middle ground between the casual-ness of HFV and the strictness of TBHP.

Thanks for clarifying about the rule, Venkat.
