Hi Guys,
I checked out a couple of budget audio sets for home use. Oceanic Sound and Vision in Pune MG road are nice people and showed me one combination that I liked: DNM 2 channel out amplifier A302, ELAC bookshelf speakers B5/B6 (I dont know which) and standard CD Player/DVD player input. I am told I should get a DVD player and later a DAC too.

My requirements -
1. I am on a budget of around 30K for this month, can add 20K in the next month.
2. Only music output required, no video pass.
3. Should be able to play wav, flac, mp3 from my phone or CD/DVD or pen drive.
4. Should give clarity to music (good lows, good highs, good midrange), I usually listen to Indian Classical and Western Rock but this is no way the limit. I auditioned a sony mini hifi system and trashed the idea of buying it in minutes.

I have zeroed in on Boston Acoustics A26, DNM A302 amplifier. Does this combination sound good? Will it play music straight from my phone or pen drive? Which DAC should I go for? Is the amp strong enough? I am going for this amp knowing it can output 2 channels only. Is that going to be a problem later?

Regards.

Hi,

If it is stereo setup you want then the integrated amps should work. You will need a DAC to get the best digital performance from the DVD player....

You may aspire to own an AVR which is digital, supports stereo music also...all depends on which brand and model you are going for....

Marantz, Cambridge Audio, NAD, some Yamahas, Pioneer LX series are good for music first then movies.

If you are a bit constraint on budget, see the For sale by owner section or Hi Fi ads...

All the best!

Denon Ceol RCDN8 CD/FM/USB/AIRPLAY: Amazon.in: Electronics

Have you seen this? It's a simple system from Denon which should full fill all your requirements considering it has wireless connectivity. I am not sure though where you would be able to audition it.

Spend the most on speakers.

Don't bother with a DVDP or CDP for source. Get a Raspberry Pi 3 and also a HiFiBerry or IQaudIO DAC for the Pi. If you can get access from Amazon.com or US then get an SMSL or Schiit DAC... otherwise nothing in the budget category will perform better than the Pi DACs.

If spending the most on speakers and the Pi + DAC leaves you will little $$$, consider amps from SMSL or Topping till you can save up for a better amp.

Look at used gear on this forum, you can pick up good deals that way too.

But do spend the most on speakers... you'll regret it the least later on.

Thanks. Zeroed in on BA A26 bookshelf and Elac debut b6. I have heard Elac and it is great but a bit costlier than the BA. Cant seem to decide. Will audition a BA A26 tomorrow.

Thanks.
