New Home Theatre - Eye Burning sensation

Ventilation and more ventilation, if possible get those huge fans used in weddings on rent to blow out the air.
I had same issue when I got my rug in my living room, I kept the doors and windows open for 2-3 days.

Update: As it may help others iam updating this with my observations

I have kept the door open from morning to evening daily when i want to use the room good results no smell and eye burning sensation

I feel this is the best method nothing else can give better results.

using active ventilation will help ..

There should be some solution to it.. we cant have a HT unusable or not able to sit and relax for longer duration after spending lot of Money and time. what is the Point ??. something is wrong how these people are building these HT's, generally if this is a well know problem, it would have been all over the internet with solutions etc.. But i dont hear this issue very often. not in any other forums. There should have been thousands of youtube videos on this topic in HT category. But there are none. When i spoke to some HT consultants and dealers, they suggested to get all the cutting work done offsite. This might help reducing this eye burn effect drastically. so if someone is constructing a HT, try cutting all the Ply and wood in a different place, not in the HT room.

My ht room was completed in the month of March and from August it went off completely. So it took around 6 months to settle down.
What did you do for the 6 months? I got my studio done in January 2024 and it feels like it's just keeps getting worse, it goes away when I turn on the AC but when I'm not using it I keep the door closed and it comes back again.

But if you keep the door closed overnight it comes back right? I keep the door open for hours before using the room too and yes it works but it's a temporary solution. There must be a permanent solution to this because there are literally thousands of HTs that don't have this problem.

Have you guys tried an air purifier in the theater room?

Eye irritation is usually due to particles or chemicals in the air. There is also a smell of glue a new room. The upholstery also emits some gases once installed.

These issues could be solved by an air purifier. Turning on the AC does the same. The AC circulates the air and it passes through the filter and IDU which cleans it.

Try a MI air purifier or a Dyson & leave it running for a while and see the results.

Didn't do anything. It takes time but will definitely go away. Just use AC whenever you are using your room.

Hello,
I had this problem too. I’m not sure if it’s coincidental or it worked but I made sure to run the Aircon everyday for atleast an hour for a month or so.

Long back at work, we had a sound proof room done with rockwool and some glue was also used I guess and was newly painted. The eyes would burn a lot.
The eye burning sensation and the smell dissipated after approx a month.
Pls avoid closing the room for some time & using the AC as it would be harmful from the health point of view.
Try getting the air out of the room with some sort of a blower or a fan for a few days/weeks and then use the room.

I should have been more accurate. I was advised to run the AC on while not being inside the room. Although in my room, there’s some sort of ventilation to move outside even though the door is closed. Probably coincidental for me
