I've been looking to get a audio system together, and I think I need some advice on what components would serve my needs best. The money I'm willing to spend (next to the money already spent) would be around 1000 euros.

I currently imagine I want the following components:

- amplifier (to connect to speakers, turntable, and existing shabby CD player)
- speakers (book shelf)
- turntable (starter table)

I already have the following components:

- DAC
- headphone amplifier
- headphones

My musical tastes range from classical music to metal by way of pop and dance, so that is probably not very helpful...

:)

Please let me know if this is not enough information to give recommendations on.

Hi

Since you want to use a TurnTable, you might as well go in for a decent Marantz integrated amplifier whose phono inputs do great justice. There is a thread on vinyl / turntables on HFV which you can browse through.

Depending on space, you can select a good set of stereo speakers which can be bookshelf or towers....B&W, Boston Acoustics, Polk Rti Series, PSB or Wharfedale (Diamond series) seem to pair well with the amplifier...the only thing you need to keep in mind is that the impedance of the speakers are same or more than the amplifier...which means speakers need to be atleast 6 ohms and should be around the same watts in rated output or 50% more.....the most important factor is ensuring that the speakers can deliver performance across all frequencies 20hz -20khz.

Other good amplifiers are Cambridge Audio and NAD. Depending on your budget and the availability in NL, you can go ahead.

Fortunately, there are tons of reviews and videos posted on YouTube to guide you on the best possible setup...Audioholics / AV Max and Cnet are known for their accurate reviews...there are demo videos by users posted which can help you take the proper decision...

All the best

A beautiful, well-constructed speaker with class-leading soundstage, imaging and bass that is fast, deep, and precise.
