Thanks BLASTO for the confirmation! I think nothing much can be done about the SD. Anyway, most of the all channels are moving to HD... may be another 1-2 year.

SD quality depends on input signal/channel. Some SD channels on tatasky hd pvr are good and can be watched from, lets say, 10 feets. Others even from a kilometer away are bad!

I completely agree with you. some channels on TATA sky in SD are brilliant and perfect at close viewing distances on my Sammy 51D550, and then there are some channels wherein the pq sucks big time. u rightly said a km away and you would still probably see pixels

By the way, take my statement with a pinch of salt.
I am comparing two my TVs. One is a 720p 42" samsung and other is 50" 1080p VT20.
So it is biased.

Never mind. I can understand that SD will not be that great on such a big TV, but yeah, slowly we are moving away from SD.

Both of you, Amol & Flash, are right. I've TataSky and observed the same thing. Few SD channels are good and few of them are really pathetic...

Hope that all the channels will be converted to HD soon...

I'm really amazed at the growing popularity and patronage of the VT20. I have a feeling that the Diwali offer coming to an end may not stop the remaining sets from being grabbed

Edit: I got my 42V20 @ 67K one year back.

We all got our 50VT20s for 74.2K at Croma here in NCR last week and another member cracked a deal for 68K + more freebies than what we got at another Croma store. That's 6.2 K off in less than a week and you are crying about an years gap :lol:

Actually one of my friend was asking for a 50" TV, and another one I converted (who actually was supposed to by only 40" ). So we got 2 TVs @ 73K each! In need a great deal!!

Oh yes, I got my TV more than a year back; so need to crib about that! That's how the electronic item's prices fall...
