I'm confused with my TV option, whether to go with Plasma(Panasonic) or LED (Sony). This one is for my living room and size preference is between 47/48 if its LED and 50-55 if its Plasma.
I usually watch Sports/Movie/current affairs. As well very rarely play games.
My budget is between 75k-100K.

Could some guide me to select the right one.
Thanks.

I don't think you would get Panasonic Plasma as they are out of production..You can consider Samsung 51F5500 Plasms for 70K (or) LG 50PB6600 plasma for around 55K.... You could save the rest for some other gadget....

For LED, you can consider Toshiba 50L2300 for 60K, & an other model from Panasonic 50 inch...

FYI : Its almost impossible to negotiate price for any Samsung/Sony products...

Get the LG 50PB6600 if you don't need 3D or Samsung 51F5500 if 3D is the priority. Look no further.

Thanks for your inputs guys.

I always imagined plasma with panasonic and never know how good its with other brand, which make think, should i need to go after plasma with pana exiting plasma.

I'm currently using Samsung CTV,which is brilliant in Pc/ sound clarity and the new one which i purchase would be my first flat screen.

I can tell same with LG or toshiba(brand, not used personally etc) so i'm skipping those two.

Currently i'm looking into Sony/ Samsung.
other day i visited sony showroom and PC looks good.
I'm not sure about the model no, but is Triluminos series 46'

Also can some once tell me where i can get good price for sony LED?

Finally decided to go Sony KDL46 w950A.
Visited few showrooms in Chennai and the price stated in Sharptonics(velachery) INR 99K and they do got stocks, but they dont have piece for display.
Reliance was my second showroom,to my shocking they told me that, sony had decided to stop this model and they don't have this model right now.
So i decided to enquire the same with sony center directly, they got stock with them and sony will stop this model and plan to introduce 4K model in all series shortly.

Now the real confusion is to go with planned one or to wait for 4k to get released.

But TBH, i like this 46w950a, monolithic design and picture clarity is stunning.

Guys tell weather to go with this model for the given price(99k sharptronic) or 104900.00 from sony?
Will i get better deal from any other showroom?

Or to stay away from this model and wait for 4k?

Go for the Sony 46W950A @ 99K. 4K is future and not sure when they're gonna prevail since we're still dealing with 480p contents mostly.

Get the LG 50PB6600 if you don't need 3D or Samsung 51F5500 if 3D is the priority.

4k is still a distant reality IMO due to the fact that there is hardly any native 4K content available, heck its even difficult to find full HD as our usual content is around 480p.also plasma is a thing of the past now, a technology alomst 10 yrs old, panny has already stopped producing plasmas and LG AND SAMSUNG will most probably follow suit so no point buying it IMO.insofar as the choice of store is concerned i think the one offering discount shall be preffered but do ensure that they give you a brand new set, i am a bit skeptical as to the difference in the qouted price, be very careful, also if possible try and get a deal for extended warranty if possible, its an investment you will be proud of.i was going through the same dilemma as yours, bought a panny 50inch FHD LED 50a610d.

4k is only a stopgap technology - until manufacturing large screen super amoled TVs is cost effective and feasible. Like plasmas they will be phased out in less than a few years once amoled breakthrough is made.

Go watch some demo videos on the 10.1" Samsung galaxy tab S and you will know. Jaw dropping awesome 3d effect without 3d content - your eyeballs will jump out of their sockets. [emoji5]

If i'm going with plasma it would be only with panny, and now they are out of plasma i'm in no mood to go after it.
Now i'm decided to stay with sony w950a and not think further.
As you said i need to check on extended warranty which i'd not done with sony center so far,
Will sony provide with extended warranty for this price(104k)? Since i'm getting two Led one for my relative and another for me.
Sharptronix(velachery -Chennai) ready to offer 99k if we purchase 2 Led from them, but not checked on extended warranty with them.
About to visit croma this weekend, and most probably purchase would be done before this month end.

i think you should go ahead with your purchase.sony TV's are the best available out there esp the higher end models IMO,besides most companies offer an extended warranty option, atleast panny,LG,samsung do that i know of.you can check the website for more info on that, just make sure that the extended warranty is the manufacturer's warranty and not some third party warranty which is generally the case with dealers,it is a bit pricy though but are worth the price.btw do post pictures and ownership review at the earliest.congrats for the purchase in advance.

Good that you are also from Chennai. I am also looking for 40W900A and 46W950A. The pricing offer I have received is 72000 for 40W900A and 102000 for 46W950A( from Chroma). I am not sure which one to choose and I don't know the exact difference between both the models and I guess except for Size and opticontrast panel I am not sure what is the difference between 40W900A and 46W950A. Please do update about the extended warranty thing, I will also buy any one of the model this week.

I am just confused about which model to take. 40900A or the 46950A. Btw, ask for 3 units what their price will be. We can club the buy if you are interested.

@balaraama,if you could explain your preferences better, ppl can help you out,my suggestion would be to stick to the big4,demo them individually and then decide, and dont forget to purchase extended warranties, they come in handy at times
