No sound for DTS-HD MA track from Oppo BD80 through Denon 1910

hi , konfused

plz be informed that the guys from whom u picked up the AVR will have no idea of firmware upgrades or are they pretending to ???

in my case the onkyo guys at bangalore (i too pickd up my onkyo from modern world) had absolutely no idea on any sort of firmware upgrade including the chief of service guy @ onkyo chennai

i had to post the onkyo service guys at chennai a link on the firmware upgrade issues from the AVS forum which i had got it from ashish (from our forum)

i had to follow it up with them for almost 2 months ,though ashish told me that the update can be done at home by me

so my opinion is that you chk out the details in the AVSforum and carry it out yourself ,even ashish cud be of help here

the issue here is ,if something goes wrong during update by self then warranty is void and depending on the service guys cud take months to update

Hi Venkat/Subhash, thanks for replying. When I talked to ProFx guys they seemed to know about the firmware upgrade. He was telling me about some upgrade they did recently for 1909 and according to him it was free upgrade. But for 1910 and 1610 they are yet to receive the software. So probably the guys know about the upgrade. But the problem is with KEI and I dunno what they are gonna do as I still don't know even if these guys are aware of firmware upgrade or they have setup or not.
And for 1910 it seems the upgrade is not possible to do by us. For higher models such as 3310 or 4310 it can directly be downloaded from the net as they have ethernet connectivity built in. So anyway I'll be stuck if the KEI guys don't know anything about Firmware upgrade and I'm not keen on paying a hefty sum to the ProFx guys if they don't want to honour the warranty(which I found to be ridiculous if that happens).
Anyway, I'm not loosing much as the mute-unmute is working and otherwise I can use LPCM. Will keep updating the thread if anything new comes up.
Regards,

Hi There,
Please write to [email protected] for all your Denon problems for anywhere in India, it will get sorted out. Kripa Electronics India = KEI...
I apologize that your problem was not taken care of, and I assure you that you have bought the right product from the correct distributor.

Hi KEI,
Thanks for the response. Here is an update. I did sent my details (serial no etc) to the person whom was referred by Modern World. His name is Satish. He asked me to send the details and so I did. But I never got any response back after that. And after that I also lost track of the matter as I'm now using the workaround to get the audio. But I wish that Mr. Satish or whoever is concerned had come back to me after getting my message. It's good to see that someone from KEI is here at HFV. I hope that now my problem may be sorted out.

Just wanted to put up an update after reading Spidey's issue with Xtreamer. Even after sending mail regarding the issue to KEI to the email id mentioned, I've not received a single response from anyone. I would say that I'm not at all anyway satisfied:sad::sad: This is really a very sorry state of affair.
Following is the mail that I've sent and never received any kind of response. So much for the "correct distributor" and their after sales service.

Hi,
I've bought my Denon AVR 1910 from Modern World, Bangalore and it's
under warranty from KEI. I'm having a peculiar issue of HD audio (DTS
HD-MA or Dolby TrueHD) not being audible at all through my AVR. I've
set my player (Oppo BDP80) to bitstream the audio tracks and let the
AVR decode them. But for HD audio the blue-light does glow and the
display show it as HD audio (DTS HD MA or Dolby True HD) track but I
can't hear any sound at all. It sounds like as if it is playing on
mute. I've searched the net and found that this issue is there with
Denon firmware dated before Nov-09 and newer firmwares after Jan seems
to have solved the problem. (you can see it here
http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?p=17512496#post17512496).
Anyway, let me know if anything can be done on this regard.
Serial No : 910xxxxxx
Dealer: Modern World, Domlur, Bangalore

So it is evident most of the Indian distr/dealer never respond or only they are working as a postman to deliver the product to us. No answer when it is torned:lol:

Basicaly the first criteria for the distributors and dealers, they should be an audiophile or videophile... Unless otherwise they will once again an postman to forward the queries to parent company and wait for the next piece of information.

Very right Srini, still no answer and I think by now warranty also is expired for my AVR. Now they'll probably come to me to fix it as they can charge some money for the fix. I would suggest anyone from Bangalore to avoid KEI distributed Denon's as the service is almost next to nothing. Stick to ProFx as they atleast have a service center here. I would live with the issue as it happens only few times nowadays and the muting n unmuting works everytime if the issue sticks out it's ugly head. So no issue for me as far as enjoying the system concerned.

How to know if got denon from dealer & not directly distributor?
Chances are that they may have products from Both.

Not sure, but I think each of the dealer have tie-up with one distributor. If I remember correctly(not sure though as it was a year back) the salesman did told me that the distributor is KEI and they deal with them only. But different showrooms might have different kind of tie-ups.

Sir,

Is your problem solved or not? for me also same problem with my denon 1910 receiver. Is there any solution for it? what is the exact problem of it?

Thanks in Advance,
wonder
