Onkyo HT-RC260 7.2-Channel Home Theater Receiver

In US for a few months and I am getting a deal of $350 on this receiver:

I will supply HDMI out from Xtreamer and HDMI Out from my PC to this receiver. Video output would via HDMI to 50 inch Plasma (Plasma is 720 P).

For audio, I will use current 5.1 speakers. These are Sony HTIB speakers.

Need a few suggestions:

1. This model needs 120 V AC. How much a decent 240 to 120 volt converter would cost in India?
2. What is the usual power consumption for such receivers? Would it be more then 500W?
3. I am sure quite a few members would have brought such items. Does customs crate any issues with valuation? Do they understand what a receiver is?

About 5000.

Consumption is volts x amperage. In you case it will be 120 * 6.3 or 756 watts.

Yes, they do. Carry a purchase bill.

Just one question venkat - sorry if its silly:

I intend to connect my DVD player and cable TV composite out to my AV receiver via HDMI and AV, respectively. Now, if I connect the HDMI out of my AV receiver to HDMI in of my TV, will it also carry the sound (Since HDMI is both)? I want the sound to go to the speakers attached to the AVR and upscaled and upconverted 1080p video to the LCD panel.

I'm a bit confused with this bit.

How much did you pay for the product (baggage and customs) and what speakers combinations are you goin for?

Have not purchased it yet... will do that few weeks before leaving for India

Based on the price, there should not be any customs (since cost is less then 25k). Only issue would be if customs insists on a higher valuation.
