Onkyo ht-s5300

Me and my friend auditioned 3300 and 5300 @ Onkyo's Alwarpet showroom couple of months back. Performance wise 5300 is way better than 3300, may be something to do with us listening to 5300 first and then to 3300. Mr. Sai helped us with the demo,he clearly explained us with the features of both the packages and cited the main difference between the two is that 5300 has an active sub whereas 3300 has a passive one. He played some tracks from Eagles, clips from Haunting. 5300's low end performance was good, we could feel the bass in the room, which we couldn't when the same one was played in 3300. The vocals were clearer in 5300, than 3300. We both came out with only one thing in mind, if it is either of the two, then it should be 5300. But again 5300 is in the 50K region, I don't remember the 3300 price. If you have a budget in your mind, then the best thing you can do is go and get a demo of these two and decide yourself. Hope this helps.

Thanks dem, actually i already purchased this at amazon and it will arrive here in philippines in 4 weeks time(pretty long time of waiting). I hope this system meet my satisfaction. By the way does the eagles tracks they played are mp3 or it is a blu-ray film?

Hi Jef,
The source used was neither MP3 nor Blu-ray, it was a from a 5.1 demo DVD. It was really nice to listen to "Hotel California" on 5300. You will like it :-).

@ Jeff, can you let us all know how much did you pay for the 5300 from Amazon, including shipping to US?

We have a local courrier here that can provide online shopping in US, even for someone like me with no credit card.
Amazon gave it for a price of $364.08 and for the local courrier plus 10% and $130 for shipping, total of $530.48.
