Opinion on Benq 37" LED TV?

Anybdoy who has demoed it or know of anybody who owns it?

I don't think anyone here owns this set or for that matter any benq tv...or has demoed it. I don't even think you would find reviews for a benq LCD tv even online.
So, You would have to make a decision for yourself.

But, what is about this set that made u consider it over a Sony, Samsung, lg, Panasonic, thoshiba or a Philips LED tv ?
Agreed that it's great VFM considering its 37" which is a odd size, but what if it turns out to be crap...then what ?

If u are on a tight budget n want VFM options, there are plenty of options from either Philips, toshiba or Panasonic.
U would get a far better tv in 32" for lesser money from either of the above 3 brands n might even get a 40" from Philips for 5-6k more then the benq price.

Here's what made me think about buying this TV:

  • I have a Benq monitor and it is very good
  • Cost
  • It is for the bedroom so list of features and brand isn't that important. It will be connected to a set top box.

I'll obviously not buy it before demoing it but thought i'd check here if somebody has already done that.

As for reviews online, here's one:

BENQ L37-7010: Great colours, good value for money - Business Today

Looks more like a paid review though so not sure if i trust it.

I have been toying with the same idea about buying a lesser known brand flat panel TV. Benq is a good brand for monitors so I think the TV should turn out to be good. But I won't spend more than 20K on Benq. How much are you getting it for and how much is the warranty?

Check on their site if they have a service center in your city and how far is it from your house. If possible call the service center and ask them the price of replacing the panel. You will get some idea as to how much you should bet on them.

At 37" I would recommend getting a full HD TV. And I am sure in the same price point you will get a full HD from Videocon or Phillips.

Thanks for the info bro but this will be used in the bedroom and will only be connected to an STB. Will not be playing any high def movies or anything.

Have had bad experiences with Philips. Not sure about Videocon.

Philips is manufactured and serviced by Videocon in India. So if you have a bad experience with Philips then it's better to stay away from Videocon as well.

My 37 inch Benq HD unit is fairly good through ASS is not their strong point.

Finally! A Benq TV owner. Is it the same model? L37 7010?

Any major pain points? Where did you buy it from and how much did it cost you?

Sorry for asking so many questions...

I bought it a few years ago-maybe 3-4 dont remember the exact price.( I must be getting old!). No complaints about the product though when there was a problem it took a longish time to fix-3 weeks or more. Being out of warranty I took it to my nearby guy who said that it was not as easy to fix as Korean brands.

Its mounted on the wall so I am not able to read off the model number, sorry..

Oh ok, cool. So it works for 3-4 years ;)

Thanks for the info. Do you remember where you bought it from? I've been to a couple of showrooms like Girias and Adishwars but they don't have it on display.

OK, now that you have jogged my memory I remember a bit more .I bought it from someone who bought it EBay, he was going off and needed to sell it off within two months of buying it. I think I paid around 28-29K at the time but I really dont recall too much..
