Yesterday I went to one of the Panasonic Showrooms to check 42ST50 Plasma model. But no luck. Still they do not have stock of this model. They are saying that they will start getting deliveries from the company in next month.

There I saw this latest 2012 LED 42ET5 model. Compared to 42ST30 it is not that great but it is latest model with good price tag that just making it attractive for me.

Any comment on this Panasonic LED 42ET5? or 42ST30 is better.

Wait for the ST50, you'll never regret :)

Thanks sandeepss for your feedback.

I will tell you ground reality. My inital budget was 60k, Then for 3D and Panasonic Plasma or Samsung 3d LED, I stretched my budget to 75k but now I got quote from one Panasonic brand shop for whooping 84k as a best price

So I am not making any decision just now. Thus sometimes I think of buying dyeing 42ST30 for good price but there also I am not enough bold to take any decision.

I am just helpless. I don't know what to do.

Just wait for 15-20 days for the 2012 models to get released. brand shops are not the best place to buy stuff if you are looking for a good deal.

Hi check Sony's Hx750 & Hx850 and Panasonics E50, Et50 and Dt50 series. If you can buy Hx850 then dont buy any other tv.

suggest to wait for ST50..............if its panasonic its got to be plasma :) but they are also doing a good job with LED. You can read the detailed review for ET5.............ST50 still remains on of the best plasma tv's.

if ST50 is exceeding budget, next best would be ST30, also a winner and a top class performer!!! some of the reviews:

For the same price, no LED/LCD tv will be able to match ST30.........you should demo the ST30 with some of the LCD/LED tv's in the same price and then decide. Also for 3D and SD content, plasma does a better job of video processing.

Thanks a lot everyone.

I have decided to wait till this month end. If ST50 is out of my budget then I will go with ST30.
I think that would be mean from any extremes or sacrifice.

But in case if I change my mind I will inform you guys and would ask you again.

perfect decision..........stick to it!!! There are very few tv's that can match ST30/50, unless you go higher up to GT or VT which again have very similar specs at a higher price. ST is great value for money.

Hey, Did you check out 42ut50? It's quality is almost as good as st50! Should be cheaper too..

No. I have not seen ST50 or UT50 model.

That is what I am telling you guys. In Pune, at least, nobody have these latest 50 series models except X50 and XT50.

Have seen both ST and UT yourself?

the biggest diff between UT and ST is neo pdp panels and infinite black pro which gives panasonic the advantage over other plasma's. IT truly brings out the magic of plasma.

UT50 : G15 Progressive Full-HD Plasma Display Panel with Tough Panel
ST50 : G15 Progressive Full-HD NeoPlasma

Only ST, GT, VT have neo pdp panel + infinite black pro

No, I haven't.. But I have been following avsforums and according to people there.. Ut50 performs almost on the level of St50, and is much better than st30 even.

That is news for me. If that is so, then it is really worthwhile to wait and see all models.(but not more than 15 days now).

UT50 has definitely been improvised and upgraded compared to its previous UT30. The UT50 is set apart from the ST50 by not having the new Infinite Black Pro plasma panel. It still has a good picture but black levels and contrast aren't quite as strong as the higher-tier Panasonic plasma televisions. Fact remains............VT, GT, ST enjoy neo pdp panels + infinite black pro which is a BIG enhancement in plasma technology and is absent in X, XT, UT series.

Why all this tension. Just buy the new 2012 Samsung 51E550 plasma with gr8 3D, real black filter, smart tv and built-in wifi !! One of the best vfm plasmas you can get !! Also you can get it right now for like 68-69k with 2 free glasses. Also samsung glasses are very light and cheap and easy to buy more. Samsung has gr8 usb and dlna support which now supports every frickin format in the world(i am not kidding, it even supports flac audio) !!!

Samsung e550 can deliver more than 150 nit brightness which no panasonic plasma can deliver and this matters a LOT while watching 3d content. Even though panasonic is gr8, while watching 3d it becomes very very dim and this is where samsung shines. Also the color accuracy is best in samsung which all reviewers agree on.

2012 samsung e550 has the same Real Black Filter which last years high end D8000 model had and hence it delivers very very deep black levels( obviously it is not as black as ST50 but still for real world usage it is barely noticeable and still very deep black and having better brightness matters more in real world performance).

Buy Samsung 51E550 and you will not regret :)

Thanks Madhavk8, I was thinking about this model but read one or two negative threads in the forum so backed off. But if I get good feedback from fellow members than really I will consider it. And yes,it is very well in my budget too.
