Panasonic, thou too lets down....

Did you really sell to the kabadi without looking for other options?
I sold my defective tv to a panasonic service franchisee for 10k.

Tried to repair it but it was very expensive and no guarantee for the same. Mine was imported model hence no one quote a good price.

you can continue to justify high product failure rates with 'innovation' being behind them. But the way I see it, they just spend less on reliability engineering. two points in favour: it's not a very big selling point for most junta; the faster a product fails, the earlier the customer hits the market.

Isn't it funny? so many products failing ever so often right after warranty ends? like it had a timer?

forget all that. panasonic is not honoring it's warranty as on date.

As long people put up with the not-so-reliable panels that the manufacrures are dishing out irrespective of the brand and type of panel, the scope for improvement is less. It is not that they donot have reliable technology for panels but it earns them a lot whether you replace the panel or buy a new set. I understand they have to make money but not to the extent of looting people. No amount of fancy or innovative features can satisfy people in the long run if the panel failure rate does not come down. Recently in a thread one FM was seeking advice on buying a 21" CRT which could last 5-7 years although only SD.

I am a fence sitter who is waiting for any improvement in the situation before taking the plunge into flat TV panel.

I'm having 3D issues with my Panasonic 42" plasma and the problem appeared within 30 days of purchase. Till date, it's not been replaced. They didn't care for 2 months and after I talked to them nicely (slangs work great) now they're talking about replacing the TV but still no confirmation from Panasonic. :(

Problems within 30 days is sad, Panasonic not caring for 2 months is horrible

Hope you get replacement/refund soon, do post here if you get any updates.

Panasonic tech's telling me that they've sent requisition for replacement and will get back to me. They're saying that if this was about LED-LCD, then it wouldn't take much time. Since this is about plasma, it will take some time as replacements are sanctioned from Singapore and not from India which I don't believe. Can anyone confirm this ? Is this true or they're just playing me ? :(

Talked to Panasonic Regional Head today. He's saying that they don't have any Plasma models with them. I wanted the 50UT50D but they don't have it in stock as it's "obsolete" now. He's telling me to get a LED instead although he can't suggest a model yet. I want you guys to help me with it. Please suggest me a LED which will be close to UT50D and 50" and must have 3D. I'm all confused now :(

Et60 or dt60 should be very good.

I'm thinking, if I'll be spending so much more for ET60 or DT60, can I spend little more and get the ST60 ?

Brandshop quoted me 91K for ET60 and 1.07L for ST60. It must be cheaper when Panasonic provides that from their warehouse.

pardon my ignorance, but what model do you have? i sense a bit of shortchanging here, especially if warranty is still there.

Aare yaar, I have this 42XT50D. I was thinking of getting the 50UT50D when they're offering replacement for faulty 3D. But they don't have UT50D anymore.

what is the mrp of your model? compare with current model mrp's and see where you stand. DT60 is a good replacement for your set.

I paid approx. 46K for the XT50. Panasonic called, they don't have any plasma at this moment, will be available next week.

St60 for 1.07 is great. Don't miss this. So atlast there is some brand shop which stocks st60:)

I also got a quote for the ST60 @ 1.05L and they confirmed they'll give some discounts or free gifts if it's available at Panasonic warehouse. :'(

I would use a term Built in obsolescence as a common term for most modern products.

The companies do not want us customers to have a product for more than X number of years, and they also do want us to change the product every 1-5 year cycle, so that there is a rolling of sales and also want to make a product as unserviceable as possible, or service more costly than buying a new one.

IT IS PURE ECONOMICS.

This is not just about plasma but about any white goods (be it plasma, fridges or any other consumer goods!).

Very true. We can just enjoy a product as long as it lasts.
