Hi Experts,

I had purchased 46'' Samsung 3D LED TV (46UE6800) around 6 months back. The TV was purchased outside India. I got the TV to India around 2 month back. So far, I was not using it.
Toaday when I switched it on, I observed, 70-80% of the screen is blacked out. And the first guess is that the panel was damaged while transporting.

Could youplease share your knowledge on what problem do you think it is. And if you have any clue on the cost to repair it. And can I explore technicians other than Samsung Service Center?

Any suggestions recommendations are appreciated.

Thanks & Regards,

Kamal K Jha

Hi Kamal,

Screen is the most expensive single part of LCD/LED TV (attributes to 70-80 % ) of the cost. Ask Service center guys... I am sure that they will ask to replace display(they don't no anything else)

You can take help of electronics engineers.. but should get an expert...

Please attach a photo of your TV in switched on state.

Regards,
PPS

Thanks PPS.

Hi All,

Today, the representative from Samsung had visited and confirmed that it is a damaged pannel and it needs to be replaced.
But unfortunately, he told that he cannot find this model (UE46ES6880S) in the system. So, he cannot confirm if Samsung India would be able to help us with this.
He also mentioned that generally spares for models from Asia are available in the system. But since mine has been purchased in Europe, it might be difficult to get support in India.

Is this end of road for me? Can someone please suggest if there is anything I can do?

Thanks & Regards,

Kamal K Jha

Thank you. Does anyone have experience in importing panel and getting it it replaced?
Any suggestions on this will be helpful. My model is manufactured in Slovakia and purchased in Switzerland.

Think of the cost of having import a new panel from abroad and replaced it with not less than 3 months of warranty for that. and if that fails again total money is wasted...you better buy a new piece from India.

lol samsung users.. always panel problems

In my case, I assume it was a physical damage during transit. And therefore, cannot blame Samsung.

Samsung India has quoted around 30K to replace the panel. Let's see...
Thanks everyone for the suggestions.

Bite the bullet and buy a new TV in India. Rs 30,000 for a panel replacement is NOT worth the risk. Again there will be only warranty for about 1 month? I am not sure but still too risky. What happens if you have a panel problem again? No warranty means no warranty. Once a panel is opened, you do not know what new problems might crop up.

ACCORDING TO ME JUST NOT WORTH THE RISK, BUT THEN IT IS YOUR CALL.

Better buy a newer TV.

Hi kajha83,

As Vinod.R has suggested, it's better to buy a new TV. My samsung led 46" also went faulty a couple of months back, and the samsung service center coated 45k-50k to change the panel. no warranty, it may work for 1hr/1day/1month/1yr.... .But my TV served me for 5ry so I let it go for 6K in an exchange offer. So IMO it's a good idea to buy a new one.

cheers.

Purchase the Audiolab 6000A Integrated Amplifier at a special offer price.
