Pass B1

One Word about the performance -> AWESOME !!!!.
Its better than my Musical Fedility A5cr Pre. Its better than parasound 2100, Its better than any onkyo I have heard.

KiranPS.

Wow one more happy Pass B1 user. Just waiting for my Cab and Knobs to arrive to finish my build.

For the inputs and outputs of the OPS,what connectors to use?
I tried installing screw terminals, seeing that its easy to use,but even after trying pretty much every shop i could find,in my little city,i am not able to find terminals which have the same pitch as the pcb holes. Two pin terminal can be forced in but not 3 pin.I am not able to find big sized berg connectors either.
I dont want to solder bare wires.
Any suggestions?

You need to bend atleast one pin of 3 pin PCB terminal to get it fit on the PCB.

Sachin

It has lead spacing kept 5mm but you can fit 5.3mm after little bending of leads except middle.

Sachin/Om,

Can I tweak the Pass B1 build to have two pre outs? It would help me to hookup a Subwoofer if I can have one more pre out from Pass B1.

Thanks,
John.

Just connect both outputs of each channel from single output of B1 channel. If still unsure then use 50ohm, 1/4W, 1% MFR to separate output for subwoofer from main preamp output.

Thanks Om.

Can I use a simple RCA splitter like this to get 2 outputs from each channel? One to Sub and other to Power Amp.

For only $0.26 each when QTY 50+ purchased - RCA Plug to 2 RCA Jack Splitter Adaptor - Gold Plated

Do you guys recommend taking the Pre out and feeding the Subwoofer or taking the speaker line out put from the Power amp and then feeding them to the high level input of Subwoofer and then feeding L-R speakers from the Subwoofer?

BTW, I am planning to get a Velodyne EQMax 10" Subwoofer.

Thanks,
John.

Yes that should work.

I feel from source to speaker component chain should be minimum (Means source - preamp - power amp - speakers). Now powered subwoofer is also power amp + speaker.

Cab update

FM nraghunath sent me pics for finished cab. I am uploading few pics on his behalf. There is a Teak faceplate in the pics.It will be engraved finally :

Raghu, looking nice build. BTW you connected source selector output at middle pins of toggle switch position on B1. That omits shunt of 1MOhm at inputs. That need to be connected at input which avoids pops and thumps while switch on/off of different sources. Just short that with any position of input 1 or 2.

Thank you Om,

I will change input connections.

Thank you
Raghu

I and coolestone together sat and completed his B1 connections last Sunday. It was fun to do something again which I already enjoyed, especially with a good company :) Waiting for pics from him

EDIT: I will just post one pic. Can't resist. :p Wire management 'not' done at this time.
