Pic Of your Blu ray Collection or Dvd Collection

wish i could join in this.. got only 8 blurays... bluray is very costly in india.. so i purchased asus hd2 player and download and watch movies.. got more than 4,000 english movies and most of good tv serials in my 20gb..
so iam totally not into this ,, but hopefully join soon...

You are correct, Blu-ray's are an expensive hobby, but I've been bitten by it and now its very difficult to avoid it. Ya, but its always better to keep looking for offers and buy them at some discounts so you save some money.

And moreover, there should be a repeat value of the movies, like the Harry Potter series, I've watched it 3 times within the last 2 years, with my family and really enjoyed it.
Many more, have been watched multiple times, but some only once.

Great to know your collection of 4000 english movies, that's awesome. How do you store them in 20+ GB HDD's? I mean if you could share some details the way you save them or catalog them, plus backup (1:1 copy).

u can download them in extratorrent and torrentbutler websites.. i loved demonoid.. missing it a lot... now piratebay and h33t are good.

Well, I din't mean downloading torrents.

I meant organizing your media into your storage. Having 20GB+ of media means that you need backups, adequate storage spanned accordingly and proper integration of softwares which can catalog your data that are linked together to do your work.

I personally, use a media manager for automatic downloading of torrents, getting the artwork off the internet, re-naming files, transferring them to my media center, searching, etc.
Then its ready to watch. All done instantly with only a few softwares which are integrated together.

After seeing your word file looks like you download only SD content with a maximum file size of about 1 GB, well I only prefer a minimum of 720p with 5.1 channels of audio (that is a minimum of 3.5GB per file for DD5.1 and 5-8GB for DTS 5.1).

Good buy, there is no issue with AV quality. I have purchased this @333/-, even some members confirm that Moser Baer Blu-Rays were available at 250/- each.

Good to know that the quality is great, thanks.

250 is a steal price... but where?
Maybe, other titles are also available, need to check this so that we can save some bucks...

RMCWS (a forum member) has confirmed about it, SEE THIS.
I have purchased all Moser Baer 3 BDs @999/- scheme and the seller confirmed that the offer was from MB and expired 10 days back. Now they all are available on MRP.

Thanks for the information. I missed it... could have picked up 2 more movies...

Yes, initially one shop popular music shop called Symphony in Calcutta were selling these mosarbear bds for Rs.250, but lately they increased it to Rs.299 each. I was there 3-4 days back, and the offer was still on...I bought few like dev d, shaitan, pyaar ka paunchnama etc. But I did not buy other titles as I was NOT really interested in them even they were bds and available at a huge discount.

By the way, I did not find the swadesh bd there. Even I was looking for it (not the 3 in 1 bd).

Purchased few ones

i use pc with 16gb ddr3 ram+ hd7750 ddr5 graphics... even sd content is beautifully displayed on to 51" tv..
i too got avatar bluray 150gb edition in download ..and few good copies in 1080p, dts-hd/ hdma audio.. those i relay to onkyo 7.1 htb.
yet 95% of my collection is 720p/sd with ac2.1 audio.. only..
similarly my tv collection includes 200gb DR.WHO series which is black & white..
ALL charlie Chaplin, laurel & hardy are black & white..
jungle book is 360p... but these are very rare ones,, happy to collect it in any form..
i tried using software like movie collector, found it difficult. so i just use word document to manage my collection..
i use 2tb and 1tb hard disks having external power supply to store movies+data..
i got only 18 tb.. just ordered 2tb for exclusive games and book/ novel collection..

Blu-ray's are an expensive hobby, but I've been bitten by it and now its very difficult to avoid it.

Even same thing happened with me, watching the blu-ray collection of forum members and reviews, I am bitten by Blu-Ray bug and purchased around 12 Blu-Rays last month (without having Blu-Ray player). So purchased a Blu-Ray player too. Now I am ordering 2-3 times in every week and collected more than 42 Blu-rays within a month. I am worried this bug is good or not  Receiving packages in every couple of days and my family says "what's going on? why you are purchasing (wasting money) again these CDs (BDs) as you already have a lot?". I am not sure what to say them as I already have more than 100 VCDs, 150 DVDs and above 400 ACDs, Now Blu-Rays

A remember that time when the VCD format came after VHS (in India), I or we thought "Yes, this is great thing, no tracking, cracking etc", just watch crystal clear picture. I felt blessed when I saw VCD, that time we had VCR, Cable but both were not good in AV, Snow in channels, hissing sound etc. So collected all good titles in VCD :) (you can't believe many VCD titles were at today's Blu-Ray price, SHOLAY VCD 650/- 3 VCD set on PEN).

After that DVD format came (OMG, again ). So made my collection again on DVDs, but the prices for DVD was almost same as VCDs and VCDs prices slashed. Again made good collection on DVDs (many common titles on VCDs like Mother India, Deewar, Sholay, Maine Pyar Kiya, Hum Aapke Hain Kaun etc). Now Blu-Ray   God knows.

Amazon India Entry will make Blu-ray Cheaper Within 1-2 years. Nowadays Blu-ray is expensive in India because ONLY 30-40% (Even lower) of Indian populations has Large HDTVs + HT Setup.

I guess the ratio of people owning a decent size TV with a decent ht is very less. Most people I know are opting/ opted for 26/32 in TV and not more than that...either due to finance/ space issues or they just think spending so much money on a tv is a waste :yahoo:

Its TRUE... You cannot tell the difference of Blu-Ray in a 26'' /32'' HDTV. You need AT least 40'' or more to ENJOY Blu-Rays. For them DVD's are Enough. Most of them are also watching SD Telecasts of TV.

The actual middle class with a bigger TV will not be more than15-20%. The overall figure will be around 4-5% of the population. In next two years or so it will just double. Again the number people who is interested in movies and Ht setup etc with BD player is negligible. Hence the market in India is not too large. Also the piracy is rampant to make available the movies at cheap price on the roadside.

Agree, bigger the better.

Great buy...

Looks like there are 4 BD's in this steelbook edition, whereas, the one I got (Digipack amaray case) has 6 BD's it.

Here are my latest purchases:

Sarfarosh
I bought it the moment I got to know it's being released. It was my most favourite movie of 90's era and I didn't want to miss the opportunity to watch it in its best version after so many years.

I bought it from RhythmHouse.in in Rs. 799, but it is available at cheaper rate on Amazon.in.

It is not so great but a decent Bluray transfer; lot of digital noise and soft images are present. See the screenshots below.
