I am well aware of both; blooming and dse are entirely different. You yourself said “as other zones are dimmed”, thats what I said local dimming causes blooming. There are plenty of complaints for edge lit tvs with local dimming having blooming problem on google.eg sony x9300e which is edge lit and has local dimming. The intensity of blooming varies by panel type and backlighting.I'm guessing you might be mixing dirty screen effect and blooming. Blooming is when there's a small bright portion on the screen, and the entire zone lights up, causing a halo like effect around the object, as the other zones are dimmed but this one is bright. Lower the contrast ratio, more apparent this effect becomes. Bias lighting can help somewhat with this.
