Hi chintan,
I just saw your post on seeking some opinion on another TV. Also you said that you didn't find UT50 providing sharp pictures and having massive reflections. Generally, TVs in showrooms do not show the truth. As just4kix said, the reflections are there on all the TVs. The only thing is that 42ET5D has more brigthnes than 42UT50D and so 42ET5D will look better in brighter rooms like you saw in the showroom. Be it in a darker room, then you would see 42UT50D far ahead than 42ET5D. Though I am not an owner of any of the flat panel TVs, I have helped my friends and relatives in guiding them to purchase their TVs based on what their requirements are and so had very good opportunities to see which TVs performed better. With that experience with me, I can 100% say that UT50 is far more superior ( I would say 10 times) to 42ET5D. I hope you are well aware of all the pros/cons of Plasma vs LED. So you first decide on which (plasma or led ??) meets your requirements rather than me or anyone telling you that. In case if you still see 42ET5D looking good in your eyes, then I don't think any of us, including me, can say anything since your eyes are the best judges.

I agree with the above post. One should believe in their own eyes. But basing the decision on canards like "plasma suffers from burnin issues" etc is not correct. There are people here who have discovered the real benefits of plasmas and found that many of the issues surrounding them are unfounded.

Burn in(retention) exists in all typed of display panels, the pixels have to burn to produce an image,just that in LCD due to the presence of back lighting it is not noticeable that easily,my dell monitor now shows retention because the back lighting has become weak. In OLED,CRT and Plasma its more visible because there is not back lighting to mask this effect.

Everyone has led tv of some kind, from basic to expensive, from LG, Sony and Samsung. I couldn't help thinking after watching that the pq on my ST50 is at least 10 times superior. I am not saying this because I am an owner - the truth cannot be cast away.

This what i have been saying all along,in many of my posts(that the pic produced by plasma is far superior).Even at my home where we have more number of LCD's compared to plasma, all these years get this feeling everyday and making me think why they bought those LCD's when it is clearly evident the pic looks so much better on the Plasma.

42UT50D - The Best Offer I Got Was 59K. WoW That Sounded Really A Good Deal.. But No Stock Here, 50UT50D Is Available.

Other Alternative Was 50XT50D In Stock, And 42ST50D Which Should Be Around 76K, A Little Too Much On My Budget.. Have To Struggle For 8 Months, Not Impossible.. But Will It Be Worth It..

And 50X50D. Pretty Decent Picture Quality.. Almost Booked It.. Ok Sound Quality Too..

But Would Be Available In Stock on Coming Friday.. It I Confirm By Tuesday..

Viewing Distance In My Hall Is 13.5 Feet From The Wall.. My Friends Told Me 50" Would Be Better..

So Please Do Let Me Know..

A 50 inch would be great for your room size. If you are going for a larger screen size(50 inch), then 50UT50D will look much better for playing HD movies (full HD). So 50UT50D is my vote. It should come around 75k (or even lesser than that). It may be a slight over-stretch, but worth an investment. You won't get a better 50 inch TV for that price.

The prices you have mentioned in the top part of your post and in the summary look different.

Go for 50UT50D. The bigger screen the better it is. That 8 inches will make a big difference. More so when watching 3D.
Try and see if you can get the 50UT50D for 68K or below (along with the two 3D glasses free). Then sit back and relax for the next 5 years atleast !!

Between the 50UT50 and 51D550 i would choose the later for similar pricing or even of D550 costs a bit more, if black level is the most important priority then should get the UT50.

Main Reason That I'm Not Going For Samsung Was Warrenty Part. Samsung Gives 1 Year Warrenty. And panasonic Has 3 Years Warrenty..

More Over As longshanks Suggested, I Took A Demo Of E550 Samsung.. Really Good For That Price, But Again, Picture And Sound Quality.. I was Not That Impressed Compared To Panasonic, Samsung Is Bright, But Lacks In Sound Quality. And More Over, I'm Not That Keen On 3D & Smart Features..

Really Companies Should Rethink Of Making One Special Range. With No Features Like 3d, And Smart, But With Only Best Panels And Superb Sound.. And See The Response In The Market..
