Hello

I was reading in many reviews that Plasmas are NOT good for a room with more bright light. It is good for low light viewing. Is it true ? I watch TV in both the scenarios.

Let me know your own experiences.

Thanks.

It is true that plasma will shine in dim lit rooms. In brightly lit rooms, the plasma will appear dull. Also the plasma has a glass surface that reflects quite a lot. In fact, with due adjustments, we can use it as a mirror too. :)

The Panasonic ST50, GT50 and VT50 models have infinite black pro filter that controls reflections but does not eliminate it.

Best way is to control ambient light for plasma viewing. Does not have to be pitch black. In fact some light is recommended.

If your room has lot of sunlight/bright light that you cannot control through drapes etc - you are better off with a LED...

In a normal room with one tubelight or even 2, it works fantastic. A little ambient light makes it better than completely dark room. However, my tubelights are above the TV. when a light is across the room, reflection of the light is irritating.

showroom kind of lighting not good for plasma

however normal lighting will not make plasma look less brighter just make it loot correct.

only criteria is that there should not be a window facing your screen. otherwise it is unwatchable without curtains

okay...but do you recommend Panasonic LED over LG or Sony LED ? ET50 looks good but is very costly ( arnd 94K in Pune )...

All 46" LED's are bound to be around that price. I have not done side by side comparison but expect that ET50 is equivalent to Samsung 7 Series, Sony HX750, etc.

Both Sony & Samsung produce great LEDs - off-late the Samsung look & design has been appreciated more... however the extended warranty of Sony costs less and might offer little more peace of mind...
